It was a bit dangerous as it got super hot but hey it cooked a mean chicken, I bet you I cooked over 200 chickens on this thing before it got old and beat down. To be honest I wish I had a new one right now, just for the memories.

What ultimately makes this infomercial so epic is that the Showtime Rotisserie is actually an awesome product that truly does absolutely everything Ron Popeil promised. Everything and anything you cook in it comes out amazingly juicy and tender. Ask anyone who has one. I've had mine since 2003, it works as great today as it did on day one and it's still one of my most essential and frequently used kitchen appliances.

He really was a hell of a salesman, great at making things seem so simple you’d be a sucker NOT to buy the product. Also realizing now that he had a brilliant business model. They’d just film one commercial interesting enough to almost be something you’d watch on the Food Network, and air the hell out of it.

I had a friend who worked at Caesar's Palace in Vegas. He told me that Ron was a regular there. One labor day weekend in the late 80's he had booked a suite and had 2 escorts sent to his room. About 3 am calls started coming into the front desk about the noise in his room. When hotel staff got there Ron was completely naked, coked out of his mind, and the escorts had locked themselves in the bathroom. LVPD were called and had to basically hog tie him and carry him downstairs through the main lobby. My buddy said he was banned from the hotel indefinitely.

Seems like Ron would be more of a weed smoker. When he gets the munchies he can just throw in a chicken and in an hour it's done.

Some have already said this, but it is sadly confirmed. Ron Popeil passed away last Wednesday, July 28th at the age of 86. The cause of death was not released, but this is such a blow to the infomercial industry, because Ron was terrific the way he pitched his products ("But wait - there's more!"; "Set it and forget it!"; etc.). Rest in peace, Ron!

I bought one of these and I've never regretted it. I thought this would be cheap and trashy until I saw the one my sister bought and tasted the meat that came out if it. This is the only thing I've ever purchased off of TV and is buy another one if the company was still in business.
