They are all "entrepreneurs". Alone out there, responsible for themselves and their load What we often forget - the value of the loaded freight is often over $ 1 Million in value. Trucker stops are not only for refueling and relaxing - they are a "safe heaven". Their Trucks are safe and protected withing the boundaries of the stop. Nobody would dare to pull out and eat in a local place, leaving his truck at the mercy of "organized crime".

My Daddy was a truck driver for many years hauling cattle out west. I was lucky enough to make many trips with him through the years. The truck stops were my favorite, the ladies were always so nice to me and finding quarters in the pay phone slots. My Dad passed away in 2004 and I still have the good memories. God Bless America. 🙏🏼🇺🇸

One does not get a meal and head out at I80 it's an all day kind of trip. See a movie get a hair cut shop anything from clothes to groceries. There is even a trucker museum. They also have like 3 or 4 fast food restaurants. I know I'm forgetting something.

One of the waitresses here brought my Service Dog a hamburger patty with gravy. I told her we hadn't ordered that. She told me one of the truckers had ordered it for my dog. 🤣

Back in 1979 i was teavelling from Phoenix to Virginia and i stopped in Pecos Texas for breakfast. I'm 6ft 5 in tall, back then i was about 240 lbs in the military. This truckstop wasn't real big but it had a hotel attached i stayed there. When i got up took a shower and grabbed some breakfast before hitting the road.... as God is my witness, i just ordered the "Truckers Breakfast". The waitress came back with coffee and water while i waited for my grub, and she pulled another table over to mine and i politely told her i was eating alone!, she laughed and said you haven't been here before have you?....Well, I'll tell you, when she started bringing out food, i couldn't believe it!, ....everything you could imagine for a breakfast meal! She filled up both tables with food, just for me! I thought i was on " Candid Camera" ive never seen so much fresh cooked breakfast food in my life!.... it's been 45 years since that meal and i still talk about it! Get this, all that only cost me $10.00! Hell, i tipped her $20.00! It was along I-10 in Pecos Texas, i tried to bring my wife back there about a year later, and the whole place had burnt down, what a shame! Blessings to all!

They usually can't stop for 3 meals a day. When they do take time to stop to eat they want a lot of sustenance. It might be a while till the next one.
