Yes a couple more weeks may be in order. Safe travels my friend.

Great video. So refreshing to see a video posted when the trip doesn't; go exactly to plan. Good luck with the next tour/ride. JP

Thanks JP. I feel like it's important to show all aspects of the experience, good and bad. I'll pm you soon to chat, I hope all is well. Cheers

what kind of mount do you use to attach your front light to bottom of the shovel rack.
@WanderingEyeOutdoorAdventures8 ай бұрын
Hello. The mounts themselves are after market gopro accessories that were given to me a long time ago. The rack itself has two attachment point up front that are threaded which is really the key to how these mount. Any action type mounts would work really. Cheers

Wow, I did not think the wind would get that strong down there?!? It is always windy in MANITOBA and Saskatchewan. We try to plan our day trips based on the direction of the wind. Glad you still posted this video since these are the conditions and challenges we can face on anyone of our trips. Glad you are safe!
@WanderingEyeOutdoorAdventures8 ай бұрын
Southern Ontario is very windy, it is primarily farmland and is very open. I'm not sure if you noticed the wind turbines in the video, but wind energy is big in these parts. thanks for watching and I can't wait to get caught up on your guys adventures. Cheers

@@WanderingEyeOutdoorAdventures I did not know that about SO, I assumed that it would be more sheltered. I suppose a lot of wind comes off the great lakes too. We are still hoping to get down to SO this summer, we will PM you a number of days before we arrive.

That was a pretty optimistic distance for your first tour of the year! Shoulder season weather can be hit or miss at the best of times. No hurt in callin’ it. Ride safe.

lol oh man riding on a road you're not sure if you're allowed to be on is so stressful and you just want to get that part over and done with! Seems to happen far too often. Anyways, you're awesome I really respect how you get out there despite your struggles. You're the man Dean!
@WanderingEyeOutdoorAdventures8 ай бұрын
Thanks Brian! My struggles are less when I'm out there and there's no other place I'd rather be. Thanks for watching!

Nice video. Do you use any navigation or other electronics on your setup? Thanks.
@WanderingEyeOutdoorAdventures7 ай бұрын
Hello. Thanks! I have been using my phone along with the Ride with GPS app to navigate and I feel that for most people that is more than enough. However since I am using my phone to take pics, record video and for my drone I have ordered a Garmin GPS unit to take some of the load off my phone. Thanks for watching. Cheers
@jhgannon7 ай бұрын
I’m a big Garmin fan as well. In the process of setting up my bike and am looking at the Garmin Edge 540 for the same reasons. Trying to minimize the drain on my phone. Which model did you order?

I'm watching this, having just had a minor snowfall in Ottawa, on the 20th of April, and am a bit envious. Windsor always has the better weather and longer riding season.

Yes one of the advantages of being almost as far south as northern California. Cheers

Good call Dean…indicative of a mature, experienced touring cyclist, know when to call it! Nice to see you’re still rockin’ the Mezcals!
@WanderingEyeOutdoorAdventures8 ай бұрын
Thanks Reinhart. The only way I'll stop using the Mezcal's is if they stop making them! They are such a great all around tire. Cheers

Sorry to hear you didn't finished. In my opinion you talked youself out of the ride before you really got started. I have question for you. Is there a way to ride from Windsor to Tilbury, Buxton and Chatham? It's been a while but I did not remember Rte 2 being bike friendly. I can use your local knowledge Greg
@WanderingEyeOutdoorAdventures8 ай бұрын
Hello Greg. I am in the process of putting together a route up to the BT700 that would likely cover much of the areas you mentioned. I would be glad to share it with you when I am finished. Cheers

did you have to register your camp site on line or can you just pay at the gate? I watched all the way through, so I figured out you paid for your campsite on line. ouch!! I think you called it good though. When I'm out on the road, its very important to be mindful of weather conditions and especially wind. It can suck the life out of me really quick!! Wise to call it!!
@WanderingEyeOutdoorAdventures8 ай бұрын
You can pay at the gate, and at this time of the year when the park is relatively empty it is what I should have done. to be honest I'm not sure why I decided to book it online. Thanks for watching. Cheers
@Forestcityflygirl8 ай бұрын
@@WanderingEyeOutdoorAdventures sometimes in the past, I have felt like if i book in advance then I'll be more committed to follow through. But yes I run the risk of unexpected circumstances getting in the way. its a crap shoot at best! haaa! Still, good to know that one can pay at the gate and save the $$$ for the on line registration fees(those are a joke!!)
@WanderingEyeOutdoorAdventures8 ай бұрын
@@Forestcityflygirl yes the $15 booking fee is very much a joke. Early and late in the season it is better just to show up and pay. But during the summer when the parks are busy you run the risk of the park being full so it's a tough call. In Quebec the provincial parks charge cyclist $15 at the most. Why Ontario can't do the same is a mystery. Quebec is a wonderful province for touring.
@Forestcityflygirl8 ай бұрын
@@WanderingEyeOutdoorAdventures I also heard that the parks have to hold back a few sites in case people come in and pay at the gate but they don't advertise this. I lived in Quebec as a child. it was so beautiful!! I'd love to bike tour there someday. Ya, wish Ontario made their parks more accessible to lower income people. seems like 'nature' is only for the well to do these days here in this province. Half the joy of bike touring for me is that unlike most travel, I can afford to bike tour on my small pension. camping costs will drop for me next season, since I will be turning the big 65!! haaa!!! love it!!
