Working on a B202... Have ground off the tabs using a Dremel. Feeling significant resistance when trying to remove the bell housing. Suggestions? The brushes don't seem thick enough to be the cause.

I can’t believe you posted this 3 days ago - and I just found a SL-B101 with this exact issue at the local recycling center/electronics dumpster! I snagged it before the trash attendants caught me. 🤣 Thank you sir for the awesome video! I’ll be doing this little project asap/tomorrow!

Thanks for this video. Fixed one of my SL-B202s today after picking up glue from Midwest. Another thing I learned is that flipped upside-down, they sit nicely on top of a 5-gallon bucket.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Wow, I have a Technics SL-J11 linear table that I wanted to gift to a friend, but the motor was making a similar noise. No matter how much I oiled the spindle the noise didn't seem to go away. It's very similar to the noise in your clip and I'm positive that this is the issue. I'll have a look at it tomorrow, but man, you're a lifesaver!

Update on my previous comment. I managed to open up my Technics SL-J11 motor. However, my motor was a much more simple design. Two things I noticed. The shaft bearing had a bit of play, but still manageable. The noise on mine seemed to come from the spindle bearing that was on the plastic motor cover. I couldn't manage to get those brushes out of the way without bending them, but they still work so it's fine. In the end it significantly reduced the grinding noise my motor had and it's very quiet now. Not silent, but night and day compared to what it was like previously. Those metal tabs are an absolute pain in the ass to open/remove and I didn't even bother with glue when mounting the motor back, it seemed to fit in there very tightly.

Great Vid, doing this now, i has some noise but I also have a very fast table almost 75RPM, you think changing that Hall IC chip also will help with why it’s running way too fast ?

My turntable goes in reversr now, could it be the plastic piece on the motor put on the wrong way or the magnet flipped

Thanks so much for this instructional video! I do have a question about a small issue I am having with this repair. There is some friction in the motor housing. Is it possible that the glue that I applied to the underside of that metal washer raised the height slightly, causing it to rub against the inside of the white plastic motor housing after reassembly? The motor turns so smoothly before I reassemble it. And then there is friction and resistance and it doesn’t spin very smoothly after I snap the housing back together. Any advice or insight you can offer me? Thank you!

Ah, nevermind. I discovered the problem. One of the little brushes popped down when I resoldered the motor onto the board. It was rubbing against that washer. I didn’t realize the end of that brush was actually the solder point of the motor and can move somewhat freely within the plastic cover once you clean the solder off of it. Problem solved and it works great! Thanks again! 😊
