Hi B - I had a friend come to my solo gigs on Saturday and Sunday nights and spend the time on a cellphone. Later I found out what was up when I got an email with the tune lists for each night at the different restaurants. Get ready -- not one tune repeated (without sheet music, too). I wonder how many jazz guitar players could do this (and on Friday night, I didn't play any of these tunes) AL FORNO SOLO TUNES 9-17-2016 6pm Start How About You Besame Mucho People So In Love O Grande Amor My One And Only Love St Louis Blues You Stepped Out Of A Dream Love In Vain / Stars Fell On Alabama Volare Who Can I Turn To 7:15 Break 7:30 Theme From Godfather Gone With The Wind /A Face Like Yours The Song Is You Tiny Capers I've Grown Accustomed To Her Face Surrey With The Fringe On Top Favela Soon Skylark East Of The Sun Yesterdays 8:20 Break 8:40 What Kind Of Fool Am I In The Wee Small Hours Of The Morning They Can’t Take That Away From Me Lament Summer In Central Park Misty 9pm End ------------------- That’s Amore Solo Tunes 9-18-16 6pm Start I Love You I'm All Smiles The Second Time Around Thanks For The Memories Jive At Five Too Marvelous For Words What's New If I Loved You I Have Dreamed / Suicide Is Painless Matchmaker Matchmaker Star Eyes Somebody Loves Me 7: 10 Break 7:35 Serenata Taking A Chance On Love Why Did I Choose You You're Everything (Chick Corea) Do It (Let's Fall In Love) Baubles Bangles And Beads Yes Sir That's My Baby Music! Ron, my elevator's a bit slow, are you telling me that you'll be posting many of these titles, your doing these as Moonglow, Misty, tasty 3-4 min explorations, you made my day, I'm digging 1-5-1 so much, today messing with a very punchy atonal , Tequila, still E Dom key center, I'm learning, what goes up E string groups, like to go down, A string groups, The 7 shows me something every day, Oh Yeah, playing along with Don't Mess With Mr. T, Marvin Gaye's tune for Stanley, before, it became, Trouble Man, Heavy Cats, every note in its place, this concert is so enjoyable to listen to, Thank You, Mr. Ron, you're the top, ;) B

Do you recall the adage that if the music sounds good through a tiny speaker it'll sound good through any speaker, , well I'm listening this on iPad, and it sounds great, how can all that music translate to a 1/8th " speaker? B

This is a rare gem - to say the least. Do my diabetic eyes deceive me - is that an early Benedetto?
@RonEschete-7StringGuitar8 жыл бұрын
Yes. It's 16 across and the thickness of a Birdland Gibson. It's 2 1/4 inches thick, and a 25 inch scale with an EMG 91 pickup in the body. I had two of them, and I still have one. Thanks for compliments, Mal.

Fact, , praise, and a touch of envy! (LOL). Between you and Howard Alden; I was motivated to try a 7-string - bought a Benedetto and a Dale Unger. It took a while to get used to the extra sting. Further, I had a wonderful book you wrote about HR (30 + years ago?) - that is, I have been a fan for many years......Good Pickins - Mal Pal

Some invisible person is comping behind your solo, and a mysterious bass line appears during the bass solo. Are you using a looper or some other electronic aid?
@BEARGUITARJAZZ8 жыл бұрын
The guitar is a 7 string, octave below the 5 A string, Ron comps for Todd during his bass solos, cool eh,
@gupta767 жыл бұрын
I think when Ron was doing the single lines solo, it was the bass player who was doing the comping,, playing walking bass + chord a'la joe pass but played on elec bass. Cool!

Yours Is My Heart Alone From Wikipedia: "Yours Is My Heart Alone" or "You Are My Heart's Delight" (German: "Dein ist mein ganzes Herz") is an aria from the 1929 operetta The Land of Smiles (Das Land des Lächelns) with music by Franz Lehár and the libretto by Fritz Löhner-Beda and Ludwig Herzer (de). It was for many years associated with the tenor Richard Tauber for whom it was written. The aria is sung by the character of Prince Sou-Chong in act 2.

Normally I hate the sound of electric bass in jazz, but Todd makes this outfit work. He approaches the bass guitar as a bass AND a guitar -- if more e-bassist did that in jazz (instead of trying to approximate a sound that is impossible to truly capture unless you have an upright) than electric bass would be more tolerable and even enjoyable (like with Mr. Johnson) to listen to, right?
@robertjacksonnuages5 жыл бұрын
totally agree regarding bassist....

I just hate that electric bass!..Would have been great with an acoustic double bass...Just my opinion.
