I was an instant fan of Rick Nelson, at 5 years old, back in 1960, when I snuck into my grandpa's den and put on the 45 rpm record of "Hello Mary Lou" . I got yelled at and told to stay out of grandpa's room. As soon as he went back outside, I went back in the room and played the record again and this time I got an ass whoppin' for messin' with grandpa's record player, not once, but twice, but it was worth it. I have always remained a fan and always will. I began playing his oldies in bar room gigs in the early 2000s and was surprised at the reactions of repeated requests to play them again... This man is legendary for sure. Elvis was big back then also, but I was more of a "Ricky" fan. Rick wrote his own music and performed them extremely well. With James Burton as lead guitarist, they were a force to recon with!!! I am glad these videos exist now days. If only for a few minutes, It can seem like he is still with us. It is still a "CRYING SHAME" Rick, his lady friend, and band lost their lives in that horrible, tragic plane crash...
