So, so, so, so good. This song has sliced my heart every time since I first heard it in the movie. Funny thing is that despite seeing the movie, I always felt like the lyrics were from the mother's perspective talking to herself and her unborn baby. I also thought the sense of and deliberation on regret came from the woman's point of view - willing and happy to give everything to your children but also understanding it comes with sacrifice. I was so bummed when I learned these souful lyrics and raw angst wasn't from the mother's perspective. Everything about it screams the thoughts of a mom giving birth to a child who might not make it - trust me!!
