My Uncle Charles (Charlie) Halbert helped Levon buy his first set of drums & put up the money for Levon to join the musician's union. My Uncle provided lodging for Ronnie Hawkins & the Band in their early years at his Rainbow Inn Courts motel in West Helena, Arkansas. My Uncle also mentored Conway Twitty & helped him to get started early in his music career.
