RONNIE MATTHEW MANAPPALLIL - THE ILAYA NILA GUITAR PROJECT (HD)
Friends! Here's a song that I wanted to cover for a long time, a classic in it's own rights.
This is one of the very few Indian movie songs that features an acoustic guitar in it's real glory, essence & beauty.
I am neither a proponent, nor an expert in using a guitar to emulate the vocal melodies as
that is not the true nature of this instrument by virtue.
But I have a lot of friends who are amazingly talented & versatile at doing that.
So I got a little inspired to try it out, though only limitedly successful.
I tried to cover my inefficiency in playing the blazingly quick gliss & hammer-on/pull-off modulations ("As Gamakams") commonly used in
the Indian style of guitar playing by trying out some common techniques like bends, vibrato & dynamic control. Sorry for that!
Gave a little bit of my own flavouring to the acoustic solos as well as the drumming on the acoustic breaks.
So puritans, please don't curse me!
