*About Ronnie Milsap*
Born nearly completely blind, he became one of the most successful and versatile country "crossover" singers of his time, appealing to both country and pop music markets with hit songs that incorporated pop, R&B, and rock and roll elements. His biggest crossover hits include "It Was Almost Like a Song", "Smoky Mountain Rain", "(There's) No Gettin' Over Me", "I Wouldn't Have Missed It for the World", "Any Day Now", and "Stranger in My House".
Milsap was sent to Raleigh's Governor Morehead School for the Blind, and that is where he discovered a deep love of music, cultivated by close listening to radio broadcasts. Encouraged by his teachers, Milsap began studying classical music, and while he learned several instruments, he gravitated toward piano. Already a fan of country and R&B, he became obsessed with rock & roll once it hit in 1965. Soon, he was playing in a teenage rock & roll outfit called the Apparitions, which kept him busy until he headed to Georgia's Young Harris College on a full scholarship.
Music kept calling and he did not complete his pre-law program. He continued playing clubs and ended up joined a touring band. Then he signed with Scepter Records who put out “Never Had It So Good” which became Milsap’s first charting hit reaching 19 on Billboard’s R&B chart.
Milsap’s story continues as he is credited with six Grammy Awards and 35 number-one country hits, third to George Strait and Conway Twitty. He was selected for induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2014.

When I was a little kid I never really understood how my father would listen to these older songs . Now that I am grown I find myself strangely addicted to all the old songs my father liked. This one has always stuck with me as well as Stranger In my house by Ronnie

Iam 60 and discovered Ronnie in my senior year in high school. Stranger in my house was relevant too 1982 loved that song. Later on in my life I realized that there was a stranger in my house that I'm dealing with at this moment sucks but I'll get through it. I crank This song in traffic eventually I get home lol.

Yes it is. The younger generation don't know how it was doing a load like that. Probably 13 hrs to do 800 to 1,000 mile run. As soon as pulled on the interstate it was hammer down

@@davidalexander828 Sounds like a damn fun time. I pulled a 32 hours straight New Kensington Pennsylvania to Phoenix Arizona drive, it was only in a manual car but I loved it and the freedom i felt and the views that I saw, the world was different through that lense, and it was a truly beautiful world.

@@davidalexander828 I've had a job like that too, it was way more downs than it was ups and yet I still miss it, I hope you can look back on your time in an 18 wheeler with some level of fondness for it, they always seemed like a whole lotta fun to roll around in, through thick and thin.

I saw Ronnie milsap back in 82? He said that the band let him drive the bus into town LOL great show! I've driven every kind of rig that's ever been made, driven the back road so I wouldn't get weighed, if I had it all to do over on the road I would have stayed. I've hard steel from Bethlehem to Birmingham, I'm been Coast to Coast border to border and beyond. I've left Little Rock Arkansas drop a lot of strawberries in Connecticut pick up a load in the warehouse in Jersey and be back in 36 hours by myself no road dope just coffee pissing the jugs out the window. I've made two drops in East LA go to Oxnard pick up a little bananas drive straight back home,, the pillow didn't get any head, lol

That "country bumpkin" made millions and entertained millions with his talents. Funny, nobody I know has ever heard of you. Millions of people have heard of Ronnie Millsap and have paid him for his skills. Look up his personal and work history. He is a talented musician, singer and song writer. A good artists feels whatever they are singing about. By the time he wrote this song he was living on a tour bus travelling the country. I think he did pretty good for a blind orphan. What have you accomplished with what God has blessed you with? Do you bad mouth Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles? They sing about things they have never seen.
