Lyrics:
There's a silence here between us
I've never heard before
And I can't find the love
In her eyes anymore
There's a stranger in my house
Somebody here that I can't see
Stranger in my house
Somebody here trying to take her away from me

Want to tell you about Ronnies character. Man played a free Concert at the western Montana Fair. Was a huge turnout but the crowd was dead. My cousin and I was up at the stage cheering him on, drunk, the crowd never gave him his props. So my cousin and I did. He had to be guided back to his bus because he was blind, took awhile to get him there. I said to Ronnie, could you play one more- he kind of ignored me- I told him I’m sorry about the crowd but they don’t know who you are BUT I DO, would you please play one more. He turned around and came back and played one more for my cousin and I. I thanked him on stage again and he bowed to me. What a guy, never will forget that. Ronnie Milsap was George Strait before George was. He had almost 50 Number 1traditional country hits. He was a King in country music. Imagine what a blind man went thru to accomplish what he did. Man has been thru the fire. Bless you Ronnie for loving the fans.

Back in the 80's when the jewelry department in WalMart was a separate little entity I had to go to one. It happened to be in the same hotel they were staying in. The meeting opened with the damn jewery people telling us Ronnie asked if he could do a song for us. So of course we're thinking they grew a heart. Hell no.The damn jewelry people told him NO! WHY?😢😢 YOU MIGHT ASK...BECAUSE THEY WERE ASSHOLES. I will NEVER quit carrying this grudge over those RAT BASTARDS!

One of the most under appreciated artist in country music. A lot of good songs from this guy. Update: Yes, he had many accolades back in the day, but he is never mentioned as one of the greats today. Cash, Kenny Rogers, Dolly among others are always mentioned, but I've never heard a modern country singer recognize Milsap as an influence. That is underappreciated.

I have always loved this guy. He was one of my mom's favorites that I used to play all the time on the record player. I would sit on the floor with records laying around me and make a quick change to play the next song by specific track so she, and I, could enjoy nearly uninterrupted hits on vinyl. Great memories of my mom listening to Ronnie Millsap, Eddie Rabbit, The Oak Ridge Boys, The Statler Brothers, Anne Murray, Alabama and other greats of the 80s.

Tracie Jeffers I also like the rock band "Ambrosia" from the 70s. I think there's good & bad in every generation of music. The 60s was a good generation. The big bands of the 40s were good. The 50s was "hokey" in my opinion & I HATED trash like "Yakety Yak". I also hated Louie, Louie & Sloopy Hang On....I don't know what years they were from. That being said, I loved the 60s Motown.

I went thru a lot of the comments, tho not all...I found lots of compliments for Ronnie Milsap's talent (no argument here, he was great), and lots of complaints about modern music. I'm 71, have listened to country music since Hank Sr. I can agree, there was a boatload of really fine country music in the old days...but there was also plenty of crappy stuff, too. Just like today's music. I don't remember any artists from 50 or 60 years ago that were better than Brad Paisley, George Strait, Randy Travis, or Chris Ledoux. OK, you may consider the last three as "old timers", but to me they are still modern, recent, and fresh. Yes, I loved Johnny Cash, Hank Sr, Patsy Cline, Faron Young, and others. Still do. And I loved The singers of the 70's and 80's too - but I can still admire, respect, and love the sounds of Paisley, Little Big Town, Nickel Creek, Miranda Lambert, and a slew of others. And the musicianship of most country bands today is IMHO much superior to the vast majority of overamped rock bands. One last thought -- Ronnie sang this song, and did it well. But I don't find even one mention of the incredible Mike Reid, who wrote it, and so many other great country songs. Give credit where credit is due.

Good point, Mr. Farwell. Much of "today's country" sounds more 1970s southern rock. Frankly, Ronnie Milsap, Tim McGraw, Alabama, Vince Gill, Reba McEntire....many more up to the early 2000s were pretty good to great. The new "country", I won't even waste my time on.

This song was a huge hit on both the country and pop charts, but it never went to no. 1 on the country charts. The reason? Because of that guitar solo in the middle. The country station in Denver refused to play the song specifically because of it, and that cost the song airplay.

In all fairness, I'm 45...was born in 1974. Grew up on 80s music & in 90s was in college. I can't disrespect the 20-25 year olds now by assuming that all their music is garbage, without digging deeper to find good things (these days like Josh Groban, Lady Gaga, Michael Buble, Ed Sheeran & Shawn Mendes). If the older folks want me to be accepting & love their generational music, then they have to NOT sideline my generation or the younger peoples' generations. It cuts both ways. Don't use lack of technology know-how as an excuse.
