Such a feel good country song. Gosh sometimes I hate this future I’m in.

It's nice to hear a song that praises the housewife instead of vilify it. I love those simpler times and this song reminds me of childhood especially my mom (rip) who listened to Ronnie. Miss ya ma 😘

Agreed the housewife role is a good thing. We need more of that old fashioned role to these millennials.

This brings me memories about the first time I heard this song late summer 87' even though song was released in 85,' well me and my wife been married for about a year and half I was working in the west Texas oil field then (Westbrook Tx), me and two other hands had to car pull 10 miles to work every morning, one the hands was not to easy about being ready in the morning, supervisor get pissed about us running late, it got to were the supervisor told me to save my own skin just drive my vehicle to work lol and old 71' 3/4 Ford pickup truck probably with bad tires too but song always reminds me of coming home to my lovely young wife back then, this coming Sunday is our 35th wedding anniversary. ❤

First time I heard this man I was about 9yrs old and I wanted to listen to him All the time. I love them all but the first song of his that I really liked was "Day Dreams about Night Things"! To make a song so great to make it a hit it needs 3 things the words, tune and a great voice which is what Ronnie Milsap's songs have and is why they sound so great! God bless 🙏 you Ronnie Milsap!!?

Lyrics Crack of dawn I hit the road Set my shoulders for the heavy load Coffee leaking Through the paper sack The foreman says I'm late again He can't stand it when I only grin He's got me eight hours She's got me after that I can't wait till it's quitting time She got something cooking for me tonight Chorus She keeps the home fires burning While I'm out earning a living in a world That's known for it's pouring rain She keeps the home fires burning Ooh and it's her warm loving That keeps me returning again And again Out of gas just my luck Four bald tires on my pickup truck No more credit on my credit card When I come home and hit that door I remember what these aching arms are for She's my one light when the world goes dark Tomorrow it's the same old grind But she'll be burning in my mind Chorus She keeps the home fires burning While I'm out earning a living in a world That's known for it's pouring rain She keeps the home fires burning Ooh and it's her warm loving That keeps me retuning again She keeps the home fires burning Ooh and it's her warm loving That keeps me returning again (Home fires burning) While I'm out earning a living in a world That's known for it's pouring rain She keeps the home fires burning Ooh and its her warm loving That keeps me returning again She keeps the home fires burning While I'm out a living in a world That's known for it's pouring rain She keeps the home fires burning Ooh, and it's her warm loving That keeps me returning again

I grew up listening to this. Thinking about mom and dad. I always just assumed I'd have the same thing. Ha! I never thought I'd have to be starting over at level 42 in this game of life, after a failed marriage in 2009 and now 12 years down the drain. 🫣 I just don't wanna be alone. But I guess it's better than a bad relationship. Isn't it? Someone tell me it is and I didn't make a mistake booting an emotionally abusive narcissist to the door. (Yes, men, we can be emotionally abused. Nut 🥜 up and admit it, this 'men can cry' nonsense is just that ... nonsense)
