Backspin is better explained by hitting it like you would at tabletennis. (or slice when playing golf) To get the most spin on the ball you don`t stop/decelerate to the point you hit the ball, actually that`s where your acceleration should reach maximum.

These were the best things on Eurosport snooker. We need more fun stuff like this with the top guys having a chat and recreating classic shots or having a knockabout on a good table. Hendry's youtube channel is mostly just that, hence why it's so instantly popular.

I love the fact that Jimmy and Ronnie don't perform the shot - ie at 1:45 Ronnie snookers himself, yet Jimmy then whips the white away - but neither of them acknowledge they haven't played the shot they were asked to play.

its a feel shot .....its so hard to describe to someone who cant play it its got to be smooth and long ,quick and accelerated with some power but not a fast punch and a little bit of wrist at the end just to get it to bite ....it becomes intuitive after a while

Jimmy always cues up right into the bottom of the cue ball for every shot as a habit. If you slow the video, you can see he actually strikes the cue ball right where Ronnie does. Jimmy got a sweeter strike though and got more action on the ball.
