This right here, as aesthetically pleasing as it is, is honestly so iffy for me. Snooker to me as an American pool player is like the most advanced form of math compared to algebra. I watch way more snooker than pool because players like Ronnie and Alex Higgins, hell even Judd Trump and Mark Selby are THE most technical masters of the cue. They don’t have the amazing sport of snooker in America (Texas) but I hope I can one day try my hand at it. :)

It’s like a Simon Cowell version of snooker for tv addicts ... Terrible.

It's great seeing them both so young. Altho watch Ronnie there and now he plays so different which is crazy when you think about it.

I thought this format was a nice fun break from serious snooker. I enjoyed watching them play.

Has a human thought about this format or has a computer just sifted through random combinations of cue sport parameters and regurgitated it?

There was something badly wrong with the cloth or the balls or both in this game. Loads of big misses by the best players in the world, often when they hit the ball with some power or used a lot of spin. Aside from that the additional rules tacked onto a game of snooker, the revolting colour of the cloth and table design and the weird robotic clapping, sometimes for every shot however easy, was all just idiotic. You could see it often in the player's faces, thinking "Oh jeez, WTF is this shit?"

This game didn't catch on because it involves more chances than snooker, which is completely against the snooker fundamentals. The break takes chances instead of regular snooker safety-break, and if a player is lucky to get on the 10 points black/yellow ball on the first color, then he can get 10 points for any colors he gets on afterwards, even though the other player may be more skilled but unlucky with the first color.
@johnmccaughey2722 Жыл бұрын
Yeh defo too much luck in this version. Its the same with two excellent pool players in local pool halls. The game is usually decided on wether a player pots a ball of his break off. Personally i think pool players who are at that high a level should be playing snooker as they clearly are too good to play pool and pool between two top players essentially comes down who gets the luck of the break off rather than skill.
@belowmars Жыл бұрын
@@johnmccaughey2722 That's the problem, even at that level they are no where good enough to compete professionally in snooker. Many top pool players tried, and tried for a long time in Q school (to qualify as a professional snooker player) and never qualified to get a professional tour card.
@johnmccaughey2722 Жыл бұрын
@@belowmars yeh but they could maybe just play amateur level against each other. I am not necessarily saying they need to turn pro i am just surprised they want to play a game thats decided by the luck of the break off.
@belowmars Жыл бұрын
@@johnmccaughey2722 Yup. However a lot of professional sports really is about money, if they can keep improving at a sport where they can earn money, no matter how little it is, they will devote all their time to it. Even though there's very little money in pool for professional pool players, it's still better than earning nothing at all as an amateur snooker player for them. So they kind of trapped themselves in just that sport.

@@johnmccaughey2722 I live in Durham mate and I know a lot of excellent pool players in the north east but sadly they all stopped playing snooker when some of the clubs closed down and they're all just playing pool now which is a shame. means I win the local snooker comp quite easily tho lol

It's like they're just making up the rules as they go along. What decides when it's going to be all colors 10 points, or 5 points, or 7 points? Is it on a timer....what a stupid game. It's an insult to snooker.
@darthgorthaur2586 жыл бұрын
jimmy white it's based on the first colour they pot which decides I didn't think it was that hard to follow lol

Considering Jimmy White actually won this in the final, what a stupid thing for you to say @jimmy white
@jimmywhite116 жыл бұрын
The only thing dumber than tenball itself is the person who would defend it! And just because one person shares the same name with someone else doesn't mean they are the same person, so it's kind of irrelevant who won the shit 1 time then cancelled tenball tournament.

I'm enjoying the novelty, in a masochistic sort of way. But I'm really glad this cringe fest didn't catch on. From the horrific interviews between frames, to the chrome finish on the table and even the extended cue. This is without a doubt the worst thing to ever happen on baize... Phillip Schofield???
