I recorded a song without spending any money. Here’s what I learnt.

Guitar production with zero budget. Just a 2nd hand guitar, a practice amp, free software and whatever tools I have around the house.
This video is aimed at guitarists and producers who are just starting out or those who have limited access to music production equipment. If all you have is a 2nd hand guitar and a 15w amp you might be desperate to start recording music, but feel completely stuck. Having spent the best part of a decade working in music education, I know there’s young musicians out there capable of writing the best music we’ve ever heard. They feel like they can’t begin because they don’t have the budget to buy a recording interface. It’s entirely possible to create great music using free resources and whatever musical equipment you already have at hand, and I’m here to share what I’ve learnt over the last 3 months of trying to do exactly that.
My challenge is this: produce a reasonable quality, guitar-led track, using a 2nd hand guitar, a 15w practice amp, free software and my mobile instead of a microphone. I can use equipment outside of this if I think it’s likely others will have it available too, but I can’t buy anything new.
