Just found the channel and I like it…very well done and so reminds me of myself! I am a “anything w a motor and could kill me” lover!! So I love my toys, have a few bikes including a 1995 Suzuki GSXR-1100 just like the one I bought a brand new in 1995. Sold the bike in 1998 and a few weeks later I dropped off an extra key I found to the new owner and he told me how much he loves the bike, how incredibly clean it was when I sold it to him, but I was going to be upset…..he dropped the bike!!!!!’ So after owning the first brand new anything I had every purchased besides a few homes for theee years and keeping it in showroom New condition the new “owner” drops my /his pride and joy?!???? Oh I was so pissed that I had sold it that I vowed that I will never sell another bike again! So fast forward to around 2005 I decide I’m going to find a 1995 GSXR-1100 in the “oh so 1990’s” Black, Purple, and Blue edition….the limited colors for 1995 w the Very common blue and white being the factory race colors that year and so many years after! So off to eBay and found one 2000 miles away, looked great in the pics on eBay….it wasn’t….so a few clicks w the mouse and input my CC to PayPal and arranged shipped! Got the bike and was disappointed because while it looked good on eBay, it was def not my 1995 bike that I babied and sold! So I rode it into the garage where it sat for 3 more years till I decided it was time to make her something sexy again! Jumped on eBay and found a BRAND NEW IN THE BOX New Old Stock FACTORY fairings/plastics including the tank!!!!!!!!!! Only thing missing was the front fender. Someone had ordered the entire set and then never returned so the dealership…yes DEALERSHIP…..I purchased them from had sat on them for a decade and decided to put them on eBay! So I snatched up for a total of $700 SHIPPED!!!!!! Turned around and sold my existing set w tank for $450, so do the math….I had $250 in a brand new set of fairings and fuel tank!!!!!! Found out I was still able to order the front fender new at the time and even found the very sought after rear seat cowl (used) and the pad for it I could also get new from the big S!!!!! So I paint a bit on the side, ordered the paint and sprayed the rear seat cowl and literally the bike looks as bitch’n as it did when I sold my first one!!!!!!!! Only difference is I also sprayed the windshield body color for a more modern look and this bike has the era correct aftermarket “Vance & Hines 4 into 1 face pipe and the carbs are jetted! I absolutely love this bike and I will never ever part w it…..a second time! We are a family the rides together so we also have: Suzuki TL1000R V-Twin Suzuki Hayabusa Gen 2 Harley Davidson Fat Boy Harley Davison VRod Harley Davison Sportster And a few toys for the dirt….. We look forward to seeing progress made on the rebuild on your channel and can’t wait for the next video! Fire that baby up !!!!!!

I bought a brand new GPZ1000 RX in 1986. It was a good bike, but as you mentioned in part 1, not as good as the 900. Regarding the extremely snug fit of the battery, and the difficulty of getting it back out again, here's what I did. Take the battery out. lay a length of plastic packing tape into the battery box. put the battery back in and cut the tape so that you have enough to make a handle. Superglue the two ends together, and away you go! I hope you find this helpful. As regards the exhaust, a firm by the name of JAMA used to do a full replica system. Looking forward to part 3! Best wishes from the UK!

That front drain bolt is for the oil cooler and lines. It's about 1/3 quart in there. BTW, I've been riding this bikes younger, bigger brother for near 25 years (1996 GPz1100). Keihin CV carbs: been there, done that. New CV diaphragms, new float valves needles and seats, and new float bowl seal at a bare minimum. The rest can be cleaned out no problem, but you absolutely must find and write down the number of turns each mixture screw is set at for a starting point as they are a royal PITA to adjust when on the bike, even with a special tool....then again you're probably looking to put pod air filters on and not the original airbox, so they will be a bit easier to reach.

I love that feeling of reviving an old engine. I just did this about 3 weeks ago with an older Snapper Rear Engine rider mower that sat for 10+ years outside. Check the oil, good, check for spark, good, check for fuel delivery, good, pull the pull cord about 20 times to loosen the cylinders up and then spray some starter fluid in the combustion chamber and it ran the first pull for 15 seconds. Did that 2 more times and it was running! It was so exciting! Now to just do the rest of the restore. I should record it and put it on KZbin!

As someone who has been rebuilding and reviving bikes for the past year and a half. I learned the first thing I want to do is make sure theirs oil in the engine and make sure is has spark and compression and at least get the engine to bark off ( just a spraying gas or starter fluid into the intake ) before I start doing other work on it. Nothing is more disheartening ( or a waste of time ) than doing a ton of work on the bike only to find out it wont start up. This also allows me to map out everything I need to look into doing to have a fully functioning bike and getting a parts list together.

Good work. As another commenter noted, at 9:55 there is a crack in the clutch basket. Maybe the basket should be replaced before there are more missing chunks of metal wandering around inside the engine. Sometimes combustion deposits become trapped on the sealing edge of the valves. Running the bike hard in high rpms can correct this. Or not. A guy can remove the shraeder valve on the compression tester hose, then squirt carb cleaner down the spark plug hole. By turning the engine over, as in a compression test, and holding the thumb over the open end of the hose, carb cleaner is forced up into the valve area. Pst,pst, pst. It works and can raise the compression. Running too high of an octane of fuel can cause this condition.
