If you've never come across Ronnie before, he's the man with the best tone going. His tone is rich, chocolate, woody, smoked, spiced chai. Brilliant explanation. Why are Thunderbirds so expensive in the UK? 😠

Great video Ronnie, I just got my rocket in Low F and it’s great. I know quite a few other people have said it, but I would love for a tutorial on the stuff at the beginning.

Thanks for the comparison, Ronnie. I've play, and enjoy both the Rocket Low (F and D) and Thunderbird (F). Just a note, the Rocket Low has 8 reed plate screws. I've never seen this many reed plate screws before on any diatonic harp. Please keep up the great lessons!!

Wow! Those sound great! I don’t own a low harmonica but I’m really want one. Both those harps are great. First time I’ve ever heard a LL harp. Love it! You were right, now I want one! Thanks for the great videos bud. I just received my first Rocket in the key of A. Awesome instrument. And my C Special 20 just can’t be beat.

That low low reeeeeeally sounds cool. I think immuma have to buy one now!!!
@davidkulmaczewski49116 ай бұрын
Pretty sure there's a third reedplate screw behind the center plastic support on the Rocket, plus another one center front. Rockets use 8 screws to hold the reed plates together; Crossovers (and so I'd assume Thunderbirds, as well) only use 7.

I got a Seydel Low D quite a few years back - and it turned me off to low tunings almost for good. The notes were completely different than a standard diatonic - and was terrible for blues. Just last month I got a Suzuki Promaster Low F - it's great and has the intervals I expect. Do you have experience with the Seydel low keys ? I feel now like the mispackaged some other tuning in there. I'm probably going to invest in a Thunderbird Low D to finally replace that one - since we play in A so much in our band

Hey man! Fantastic video and playing. I was wondering if on higher/mid range priced harps for new players if adjustments/warming up the instrument or reed tweeking is necessary or useful?
@Harmonica1234 жыл бұрын
jackiemoon12341 good question. Tweaking rarely but you can break it in a bit by breathing easy from the diaphragm and not bending to aggressively by pulling from the lungs first. Those who breathe properly all the time have no need to break in the harp in my experience. Just continue breathing from the diaphragm.
@KenPOTchi16454 жыл бұрын
Ronnie Shellist Thanks for the reply. I play 13 different instruments and I’d love to add Harmonica to that list so all this information really helps. Do you recommend a beginner start on a lower lever harp or if the money is available get a good one?
@Harmonica1234 жыл бұрын
@@KenPOTchi1645 mid range...Hohner Special 20, Marine Band or up from there, Crossover and Marine Band Deluxe. The Special 20 is my #1 recommendation for those getting started.

@burnerjack014 жыл бұрын
No expert, but the best I've ever tried was the Yonberg Typhoon. Expensive, but very durable and play so smooth and easy. Cuts down on the frustration of fighting with lesser harps that are not so easily forthcoming with a smooth sound and play. You'll play longer and enjoy it more.

Nice demonstration Ronnie That’s shows them off nicely I got a thunderbird Low C for my SBWII Bye by bid, which I am really struggling with, but will get there one day Cheers buddy
@Harmonica1234 жыл бұрын
yes you will. there's definitely an adjustment period to get a good feel for low tuned harmonicas. and the lower you go, the more you adjust.

Is that possible to bend on low low F harp?
@BoazKimMusic2 жыл бұрын
It is, but the lowest notes on the LLF below hole 4, become much more difficult to get the complete range of the available bends. Hole 1 is very tough but it is possible. I have, though it’s not usable… Maybe with more practice😅

2 R for $ of TB! I would by 1 C - TB and Rocket's 4 fav tunes such as Bb D G as needed affordable 🎶as practice🙉👍

I have two LL Gs (one a Thunderbird the other a Lucky 13) both sound good, but both gone out on the One Blow. What bothers me I'm not a hard player. The manufactures still have some work to do to get them to work properly.

wow never heard of the 1 blow going out on those low tunings

My TBird low F broke on the 9blow I got a new set of plates in the mail last week but I’m waiting to put em on until I get a blue moon brass comb maybe next month I really dig this harp a lot. That said I really dig my new rockets too and had no idea they come in low tunings thanks for the enlightening video knowing there is a comparable option for roughly half the price is encouraging
