This is killing. Ronnie Jordan turned me onto jazz guitar. I read his liner notes where he mentioned Wes Montgomery and I went straight out to a record store and bought Full House. It's a real shame he's not still around. I'd love to go and hear him play.

He was such a rare, good, younger artist on the scene, so modern and hip and yet not idiotic like the whole ocean of instrumental jazz wankers that continue to live. He always tried really to keep things together in music, making it really Music which is and was such a jewel to meet. He is the only artist who rewrote the famous So What by Miles Davis and turned it into a real standard. Now other people can also play it. Before he did it, the tune was very exclusive to Miles' poetic improvisation which was always unreachable even for the best players including Benson, Carlton, Coltrane and so on. It always turned out to be a total wankfest with a chromatic aftertaste. Ronny made a complete song out of it and it's done. Goodbye nice guy! So long! R.I.P.
