15 EASY PVP TRAPS and INVENTIONS THAT SHOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE! W/Ghost Blocks IN MINECRAFT 1.8

I will try to do my best for everybody who did not understood anything in this video (this is gonna be a loooong comment) Minecraft is coded in such a way, that there are 2 things that host minecraft: the client side and the server side (or more if you play with more people: if there are 2 people on a server, then there are 3 things that host minecraft, but I will focus on when you play alone) The client side is what usually happens on your computer: rendering everything, and taking inputs from the player (detecting when the player presses keys, and send those to the server). The server side is where all the calculations happen, like when it starts to rain, when crops grow, and receiving and sending messages from the other clients. Every person that plays on the server has his own client. 2 different clients do not communicate with each other: they both communicate with the server. To reduce lagg, it is coded in such a way that the client does some calculations as well, to reduce the amount of needed data packeges that need to be send. For example, when you click a repeater, your client sees that you press your key, sends that to the server and then both the server AND the client calculate what the new setting should be of the repeater, and the client does not have to wait until he server says like "hey, that repeater setting just changed". There is a bug in the game where the client calculates the way pistons and slime blocks work in different ways. That is exactly what happens with those ghost block generators: the client things there is a block somewhere, while the server thinks there is not, or the other way around. That explains the interisting stuff you can do with ghost blocks: the calculations from things like arrows, enderpearl, mobs etc. is all done by the server and therefor, they can go right through the ghost blocks. To nerf hacking, mojang made it so that the server kicks the player for flying, when the client says to the server that he is somewhere for 5 seconds, where the server thinks there is a block, while the client says he is not falling. This also describes why the rendering of the light is different then the f3 screen says it should be. it is now also clear why you jitter so much when you are on a ghost block that is not there client side, but is there server side: your client renders that you are falling , because it thinks there is no block underneath. it also says to the server like "hey im now falling" and then the server sends back "no you are not, you are actually still at the place {and then he puts coords here}. the client now sends the player back, and thinks he is falling again. that will repeat very long) well, that was a very long comment, if it helped you, or if it was so long that you did not read the whole thing or that you have got pain from scrolling, that means this does deserve a like, right? That last trap having the mobs dropping in is certainly fun and trolly. Want to make it more of a mosh pit then having one monster drop at one time? Make a mob spawner set up where they land (with out damage) into one spot, then push/pull the bottom blocks and have them drop through your fake ceiling, they will have most of their hp and you can then send them after your victim. If they live, pick em off, if not, have your janitor skills come in, potions of harming and health to wipe em all out.

guys the best way to do it is make a redstone clock the connect it with sticky piston and put all on one tick. then when the piston goes back place a block then after 3-5 blocks it turn invisible then destroy the blocks that aren't invisible like the last block you placed and if the last 2 block aren't invisible then punch them and they turn invisible. then to change them back you have to update the block with Flint and steel.

the reason the water didn't save you from fall damage is because water is lower than solid blocks. you made contact with the ghost block while the water was two pixels lower

So Ronny, with the wall, I play on a normal factions server where you cannon and destroy things. Would the TNT go through like other entities or would it hit and go down but not blow up the wall? I would assume it would go through but you didn't show in the video so I'm curious. Thanks!

Sorry I meant to explain. It goes through as if it isn't there like all entities. Mobs arrows pearls and all entities treat ghost blocks as if they are not there

From what I gather from the video they are client side blocks that don't match server side blocks, since particles and entities which are managed by the server follow the real blocks whereas player movement which is managed by the client follows the ghost blocks

It does work in 1.9!! Just set the repeaters to 2 in the front, and 3 in the back. However, it ghosts the slime block, and the other block.

The ghost block mechanism only partially worked for me. The ghost blocks generated would disappear when right clicked and not drop anything when broken, but could be stood on and would not let me fly/fall/walk through them. What is going on? I am in 1.8 and everything was the same as it was in the video. Help! BTW that was a great video Ronny. Just a shame something weird happened with my build of it.

Ghost Block Bridges! Invincible to TNT! Intruders won't know not to mine it and if they do it disappears so ANTI-INTRUDER! If they mine your bridge, just create another with ghost block generating machines! Your can walk on them, right?
