When I was a teenager, I went with my dad who has been driving most of my life. I think we were in CO and next to a truck stop was a "boneyard". There were two tractors from the same outfit that obviously had been flipped. One had the passenger side caved in and the driver side was 10:4... The other... @@KevinBenecke yeah right. Where I'm at, they assume the cops are busy and won't be able to pull them over. They don't slow, they don't move over a lane, and most don't even move to the opposite side of their own lane. It's insane. Someone can be jacking up their car to change the tire, and I'll move over a lane before I get to them. When I look in my mirror, the only other ones moving over are semi drivers. Disgusting. When I'm the person in front of the cars, I slow way down, and move half way over into the next lane, so the person behind me can't go past me in either lane.

@Phyde4ux6 жыл бұрын
As a motorcyclist, I disagree with the use of those cable systems, they might as well line the high with guillotines. On a bike, I'd prefer my chances with a jersey barrier or the grassy median over those cables and steel posts any day. Whoever OK'd their use on public roads definitely did not have our safety in mind when designing that system.

In Ontario nearly every divided highway, or interstate for Americans, with a speed limit over 60mph has deep ditches separating them, usually about 10 ft deep and a good 30 degree incline. They'll roll a truck over before it can exit the other side unless the driver keeps the wheel turned. Cars don't stand a chance leaving without a pull out. As an added bonus, in the winter they get filled with snow, so it stops everything nearly instantly. Bit of a bastard to pull things out, but it stops accidents effectively as far as I'm concerned.

I was thinking the same. Over here, they let us firefighters first do all the dirty leg work. The tow truck guy will hook it up and tow, but if there's pumping to be done, cables untangled, oil soaked up, anything to do with safety or such, it's all for the volunteers of the FD... around 13:30 it appears that over yonder it's the other way around. Those FD guys seemed to be annoyed that you dared ask them for some information, and that he had to take his hand out of his pocket... Impressive work, lads. You guys surely earned my respect with the way that whole mess was handled. The leader of the crew displayed exceptional professionalism. Equally impressive was the power that the big wrecker possesses. This video should be shown in high schools to show potential future drivers how costly interstate accidents, especially those involving heavy vehicles, can be. There had to be close to 4 million dollars, or more, worth of emergency and recovery equipment dispatched to that scene. Add on the damage to the tractor trailer, the highway itself and what those men had to be paid and it goes to show what most likely was caused by human error can cost. May 2018 was an exceptionally wet period in Missouri with some areas receiving more than a foot or rain. That may have helped sliding the rig back onto pavement but may have also been a contributing factor to the accident itself.

Its such a thrill to watch you take your equipment and do what you do with such precision, I swear your videos are the only vids on KZbin that I watch start to end!! There’s another rotator driver on you tube named 1140 rotator or something like that, and he’s a driver NOT a operator, he drives fine but he screws up every recovery. I literally can’t stand to watch him work after seeing your videos!! Keep em coming & God Speed !!

I'm surprised the sleeper stayed in place. When I made my hard left turn (jackknifed )my sleeper was shoved 4 ft to the right. The landing gear smashed my fuel tank but didn't leak. Moral of the story is, don't haul flatbed loads in a dryvan.
@RylaDarkstar6 жыл бұрын
Brian Webber the scary part is, I see ALOT of dryvans taking loads from my shippers it's so dangerous. I'm a flatbed split axle driver.

I've only ever done reefer and dry van. Why is it bad to do that? The lack of strong tie-down points?
@jerrykinnin79415 жыл бұрын
I'm a second gen driver i would love to see J hook track in the floors of vans and reefers. I've pulled/ hauled most everything except for livestock. If the load moves you screwed up. Great video amazed at the tinsion on those cables. That was 20? Ft they snapped back.

Alex, Ron makes it a priority not to criticize or judge anyone who been in an accident or is in a situation that needs his services. None of us know what happened to cause this accident and i dont care who you are, we all make mistakes. Just because you haven't had any accidents doesnt mean you haven't made any mistakes.

Now that's what you call a really bad jack knife big rig at first it didn't look that bad till you you got it straightened out then saw the big hole in side of trailer. I assume the tractor will be totaled due to frame damage and the cab being smashed into trailer. Great job guys.
@williamlee70056 жыл бұрын
The cable was under extreme tension not pressure but you are definitely correct about it being real dangerous. Been there done that,
@jaycooper28126 жыл бұрын
Both the truck and trailer are total losses. there is no safe way to repair the trailer and the truck frame is at least 24 inches out. there is no way they can fix this truck.
@tx2sturgis6 жыл бұрын
Actually the trailer can be repaired, most likely the trailer frame is ok, just needs new wall panels and ribbing welded in. The tractor will most likely be salvaged. Running gear probably ok, motor will need some work, new oil pan, etc.
@bobmazzi74356 жыл бұрын
It looked like the cab went in over the frame. So, it might be repairable. Have to look at the king pin area really closely. Depends on the year and other condition. That tractor was in a bad way. With the frame bent that bad I'd say it would need to be replaced. The second issue is how quickly did the driver get it shut down. With the oil pan holed it would have run dry fairly quickly. So, what condition are the bearings in? Not a write off, but another expensive repair if they spun. then, there's the body damage.... Depending on mileage that could well be a parts unit.

@@bobmazzi7435 It's possible they could use a glider kit... but somebody may be asking Santa Claus for a new Peterbilt !
