Now show the fences after 3 years. The winner is…the brush. Every time! You inject/push the stain into the cedar. The stain gets deeper into the wood. Spray a deck floor once with a sprayer. You’ll be amazed at how fast you were. You will also be bummed because it’s so thin and it’s failing after one year😐 So…if you want it to last, the brush is the winner. Just make sure it’s a good brush. Corona, Purdy and Wooster are all good brushes.

No. 8 panels with brush = 1 hr 20 minutes. With power sprayer = 16 minutes. You just need a spare 16 minutes every year to redo it.

Sometimes you cant use a sprayer if you have plants all over behind and infront of the fence. The paint would either get on the bushes, flowers and trees or you would need take extra time to prep out a huge area with cloth so the paint doesnt spray. They forgot to mention that a brush would be better in a situation like mine (foilage everywhere)

Use a brush always to actually work the stain into the wood grain. If you just want to do it fast, use compressed air or a pump sprayer. I suggest a combination of the two first coat brushed second sprayed for the best coverage.

That spray effect has to be CGI. The Ronseal sprayer I used came out like cream and ran down the fence like a river. It gets paint on the fence, no argument there, but it's a mess and has to be brushed immediately to spread it around. It certainly isn't as easy and simple as portrayed here.

In the end, a brushed paint job always looks the beat. Power sprayers are for cars. I did paint a 200 foot long pipe fence with a pump sprayer and it worked great.

Sorry, hand painting is always the better option on older fencing. The sprayers don’t provide the volume and can be frustrating when you really need to push the paint into older parts of the fencing... I’ve tried loads over the years and always revert to the brush ..They are also a pain to clean and not cheap..

yeah i have to agree with you real men don't care how hard the work is. plus the manual pump is more reliable. how much does the power sprayer cost i wonder. if you have eight hundred feet of fence to stain your gonna take all week charging one power sprayer. do the extra bit of manual labour and get the job done quicker. or invent a robot if you think pumping a small sprayer is a workout.

hand paint came out best, though. look at those close-ups. he could have taken 20 more seconds to get a better, ticket cost on. i noticed a lot of weak spots

If you always want the best all round personal touch....... then its using a brush as you are generally a foot + closer to the fences and can see and work into the grains & knots first time of asking. Also i load the brush up enough to NOT have to do two coats on certain types of fences whereas mist spraying in general needs two coats as its does miss alots and the coats are thinner. I always make a point of not rushing fence jobs aa a quality job will stand the test of time over a rushed spray job.

you can see the power sprayer loose a LOT of pressure when he's spraying the bulk of the fence you can see the solid paint line as he paints which means he will have a build up of paint in that area... this video has actually made me loose faith in ronseal i'll stick to my airless sprayer thanks

A pump zero sprayer is my sprayer of choice. And you can put it on any standard pump sprayer. No pumping. Look it up

You still have to backbrush the stain so is evenly coated in the surface otherwise it can fail

Lots of good comments here. If you use a manual pump sprayer you use both hands. It goes on a waist high platform next to you and you pump to maintain the pressure as you spray with the other. If you know what I’m saying!! It’s not rocket science.

I’ve used a 5L manual sprayer on panels it was excellent.You have to get the hang of it.Go really steady and NEVER flick your wrist or go fast. Problems with sprayers are you have to mask concrete posts before you start unless you lift the panels out.The paint goes everywhere over the top and at the bottom and so a bit of thought is needed before you start as to what needs covered or moved. You couldn’t use sprayers in my opinion on ranch style or slats as it would cover the neighbours cat and washing and you are literally spraying £s away. I built my fence myself and after spraying it looks brand new.I had missed 2yrs of painting but it looks great now. Another tip thoroughly wash it through after and take the nozzle apart and clean the filter.By only gripe is the hose is black,I would of liked it to be clear so you could see if it was clean inside. I would only use water based paint with sprayers or you will never get them clean. Cheers 👍🏻

Hi Desmond, we wouldn't recommend using our pump or power sprayer, as the product isn't designed to go through the sprayer, and may clog it up.

Lay them flat on a plastic sheet and you can overspray as much as you like. If the precision sprayer is designed so you don’t have to remove the panel, you’ll still get some on the posts and gravel board. The panels mainly weather at the top and bottom so to make a good job of it and make the panels last- remove the panel and spray all of it. £15/20 will get you a half decent sprayer. Pump as you spray and you’ll be quids in.

If I had known this was a stupid commercial I would have gone elsewhere. I will make sure never to ever buy the Ronseal Sprayer and will tell everyone I know to stay away from it. Also it has some pretty bad reviews on Amazon. I will stick to the manual pump. Less to go wrong, cheaper and satisfaction knowing that I didn't have any part in this stupid commercial.
