Oh brother! I made the mistake of buying one of those pump sprayers. The fan pattern was horrendous, the coverage was horrendous, the overspray was horrendous, the product waste was horrendous for semi transparent stain, with the 2 gallons of semi transparent that I wasted I could have bought an electric sprayer that atomizers the transparent paint better! I liked your video for the algorithm, I’m just leaving my comment here for other people to see. Whatever you do, for the love Of God, do not get this handheld pump paint sprayer! With the amount of product your waste, you will be able to purchase a high volume low pressure HVLP, or something much better to spray with! Oh my gosh I am still traumatized by this horrendous experience I went through this afternoon.

Is November a good timing to stain a fence? I was planning to stain my fence this weekend. How long does it to for an oil solid stain to dry during this time of season?
@Housebarons4 жыл бұрын
Hey Let’s.... I’d guess temperature would be the deciding factor and that can vary widely in the USA. Probably should look at the temp range - should be listed on the can or online product specs. 50 degrees F is a common dividing line. I’d have no problem waiting till spring to stain as I’m in my yard way more in spring than winter. But that just personal preference. Hope your project goes well - thx for watching and commenting!!

@@Jesussaves869 This product, ReadySeal, can be applied it ANY temp, since it's oil based. Just make sure the wood is really dry (around 12%. You can get a wood moisture meter for about $15). WATER based stains probably need to be applied around 50F.

How do you keep nozzle from blocking up with pigment?
@Housebarons4 жыл бұрын
Hey Naughty..., All I can think of is that it did not get fully mixed / shaken enough. I would shake it , stir it, and shake it again. If that still doesn’t do it, car paint stores sell paper filters/ strainers which might help by straining it as you pour it into the sprayer. Also, the nozzle might adjust - turn it and see if it opens up the nozzle a bit. Thanks for watching,

Did you have to add water to your stain. I tried a regular pump sprayer like you're using and it won't come out properly, it just dribbles out in a stream. I've pumped it like crazy, and have played with the spray setting, and it's all the same.
@Housebarons Жыл бұрын
Hey Eric, I did not add water. I did vigorously shake the stain. It probably depends on how many solids are in your stain ( which give stain its color. ) Maybe a different nozzle? Or last try - try to enlarge the holes a small bit to encourage flow? Thx for watching!

Used a Wagner power paint roller on the outside of the fence and a Wagner HVLP sprayer on the inside due to the metal posts and stringers. The only issue was the power roller wouldn't cut off pressure due to the thin stain being pressed thru it. I fixed that issue with a cheap remote controlled power outlet to cut power on and off as I went along. Roller was tube fed and sprayer held about a quart. Enough to cover about 10 feet. This method does a great job of complete coverage between your pickets.
