I picked one of these up off ebay recently same finish but almost mint condition. I like how easily it strikes compared to zippo.

Ronson will always hold a special place in my heart. Thats a beautiful typhoon you have there.

How did you replace the wick? I'm looking to replace the felt pad and wick for my grandfather's lighter.
@DependableFlame Жыл бұрын
Just about any wick will work: Imco, Zippo, old stock Ronson. A donor lighter is probably your best bet if you want to replace the felt pad, or fabicate your own. Changing the wick in this would be just like in a Zippo, easy peas!✌️

sorry beginner here how do you refill this lighter i just bought one
@DependableFlame8 ай бұрын
Pull the mechanism off the case, turn it upside down, peel back the felt pad if it has one and soak the absorbent material underneath with liquid petrol lighter fluid.✌️

is the striking wheel the same size like a zippo wheel? Ty

Let me compare the two and then let you know for sure.✌️

Hi, I have 3 of these.. one in immaculate condition, brand new, with the box still.. this one and one other I have, the wheel just spins.. even with a flint in, like it’s not touching the wheel at all..
@DependableFlame2 жыл бұрын
That is likely because the old flint degraded and is now clogging up the tube. You'll need to drill the concreted flint out so you can install a new one which will then be able to reach up to the file wheel.✌️

Sir , do you have any idea what year it is manufactured? And if they are still using the same writing "british empire made patentd 188507 hongkong" to typhoon lighters up to now? Planning to get one. Thanks alot.

This particular model I believe to be from the 1960s or '70s. I don't believe any production today to be in continuity with those from the past.✌️

1960 - 1980, according to the Science Museum Group UK website. I just picked one up and fired it today. 👍
