I share your opinion The Auto Hot-Shot. It's nice to know that Jimmy Smits is still alive and kicking in reality but whenever I see him I can't help but think about his character Detective Bobby Simone because he was undoubtedly one of the best written characters on the show. Now I did like David Caruso's character Detective John Clark but unfortunately Caruso decided to leave the show after the first season and I also recall reading about behind-the-scenes drama that Caruso had with the crew.

Smits used to come in and there would be no script sometimes. Milch used to dictate the lines for the actors to remember on the day. No offense but why is every single NYPD Blue comments section someone feels the need to post this. Its a great show but its definitely reeking of desperation that you have to prove the greatness of the show every time a clip is posted. There's been a lot of great TV shows over the years and NYPD Blue is one of them no doubt but having to hammer home that every single clip is a bit overboard. Just accept that its a great show and don't worry about trying to put it on a pedestal above other shows.

Andy’s Partners in my opinion. John Kelly-Father figure to Andy. Open minded. Had his own issues. Bobby Simone- Neighborhood best friend that you always called a brother. Danny Sorenson- little brother that couldn’t stay out of trouble. Heart was in the right place, but never had good judgment. John Clark Jr.- Good head on his shoulders with a ton of potential. Protege to the best detective to work the 15th squad.

I need help! I watched the entire NYPD Blue series when it originally aired. I remember Bobby Simone shooting Jimmy Liery and I will stake my life on that memory!! What gives? Watching this on HULU . . up to season 5 already . . Liery killed by his partners off camera!! Did they change this outcome? Understandable because it was cold blooded murder even though Liery deserved it. Anyone remember like me or is this the Mandela effect? I am SERIOUS!

Bobby arrested him. But he was let go and he and Andy set him up to get killed.

Chris Meloni also played another Irish gangster on Brooklyn South similar to Liery. His character on BS was shot and killed by Dylan Walsh's character

@@codename617 Appreciate your reply. I've never seen Brooklyn South. I guess memory is a strange thing.

I liked this show when it was on the air but the more I watch it now I realize it made all these cops look pretty corrupt.

Corrupt is a strong word, every workplace has bad apples. However if you watched this show you know how much they all cared about solving crimes, finding guilty guy, making sure the justice was served. Also policing was much different these days, crime was pretty high in the city, some tactics that were incorporated would never be allowed today. This show and the Wire are the best cop shows ever, truly showing police work from all angles.
