One problematic development is a rumored coming revival at a date unknown of NYPD Blue 18 years after the last original episode aired in 2004. According to a Feb. 19, 2021, online report by Lulu Currey in something called Showbiz Cheat Sheet, "Dennis Franz’s character is set to be killed off for the reboot to happen." ... "The show will focus on Sipowicz’s son Theo who pursues law enforcement just like his father. His main aim is to become a detective and investigate crimes, including his father’s murder. "According to Country Living, Franz won’t reprise his role as Sipowicz unless the showrunners make room for a comeback in flashbacks. Franz said that he was asked to appear on the show but turned the chance down. "The 76-year-old is now retired and has set his eyes on other things that don’t involve acting. Fran said that he thinks of his time on NYPD Blue fondly as it was a high point in his career. He, however, said that he wasn’t interested in playing Andy Sipowicz anymore." Cop or actor, it's a wise individual who, like Dennis Franz, leaves while he is well-loved. It remains to be seen if the planned revival adds to the success of the storied show, or cannibalizes a beloved series to put liberal nonsense and stale cliches you'd have never heard in the original series to cater to "woke" advertisers and studio execs, as has sadly happened with other beloved sagas.

The scary thing is this story is based on real life situations. There are drug, money and prostitution houses like this in every major city in the country and particularly on the border with elaborate security and tunnel systems and cash in the walls and most of us probably walk by one or live down the street from one and have no idea. Officers who joined prior to 1986 I believe were grandfathered to carry a Revolver if chosen when NYPD switched to Glock 19’s in 1994. Mainly detectives and senior high ranking officers were allowed to keep revolvers as patrol officers were forced to switch to Glocks due to their daily high risk of being caught with dangerous low ammo capacity during a shootout. Since Andy and other senior officers joined NYPD before 1986 them carrying S&W Model 36s was depicted as accurate during the shows run.

But NO ONE around with big guns able to defend the stash or product. Police barge in and everyone wants to escape. Yea right!! Especially with one of the leaders also in the house. In REAL LIFE, there would be a look out outside. Another on the roof. At least three of four guys just standing in that that doorway with guns. Another bunch of guys with guns between the doorway and the secure area of where the stash and money is. Also would have guts with guns who are this leader's private unlicensed security detail. You mean to tell me police just barge in and everyone just tries to skips town with all that money and stash and the police all walk in with little to no care in the world for their safety? No shots fired? Get the hell out of here!!!!!!!!!!
