Kevin Taffe The Kardashians are very popular and make a lot of money… doesn’t make them classy or respected.
@MoneyMakingMitchNY3 жыл бұрын
@@mcgurkryans that's true, but you stated " piss ones career away" in the end he did better than he did starting and he crushed this show in the ratings on top of it. He got the last laugh. Nypd blue wasn't even in the top 20 I believe in 2000s. And the Kardashians compared to caruso is odd. She became famous for a sex tape. What does that say about society?
@mcgurkryans3 жыл бұрын
Kevin Taffe who cares about the sex tape… it’s about being famous for being trashy. CSI likely got more ratings as does that Kardashian show, and made them lots of money. But they got no respect. Ultimately, Blue will go down as a more respected show.

@@robertpreston2220 Not bad, but not nearly as good or complex. It was a true NYC show with Caruso in its first season and the first four episodes of the second season. Love Andy's loyalty here. Obviously this had to happen because of the craziness with Caruso but here ends what would've been an interesting pair over the years. If Caruso had been more humble, etc, do we ever see Jimmy Smits? The whole arc of the show changes. Keeping Sipowicz's last line for possible use one day. Both hope I get and don't get to use it. Lastly, there were few bosses on almost any show as morally bankrupt and just God awful as Haverhill on NYPD Blue The episode down the line where Fancy plays him the tape of his own bigotry is 💪

David Caruso had to get his shit together after his asshole behavior burned his bridges on NB. But he was superb as Det. John Kelly, and while it took some time for him to get other chances in both film and TV, the combination of PROOF OF LIFE (the 2000 Russell Crowe-Meg Ryan film wasn't a hit, but Caruso's work as a mercenary friend of Crowe's character won universal raves and rightly so, he was outstanding in that role) and CSI: MIAMI (huge hit on CBS for a very long time, and he stayed the course with it) showed that he'd earned another shot at success. I think he's retired from acting now; if that's accurate, he should be praised for learning from mistakes and turning a disastrous career arc into a successful one.

The best thing to happen to NYPD Blue was Caruso being such a jerk that they kicked him off the show. As others have said, it allowed Dennis Franz to take center stage even if they gave others top billing initially.
@joemckim1183 Жыл бұрын
But the show really needed Caruso to be the focus for the first year. If they tried to make Franz the star from the get go the show wouldn't have been allowed to build the momentum to be successful. Once they established how great and complex a character that Sipowicz was he was able to take the lead of the show.
