Excellent work. Replacing the cowl on my 71 camaro is one of my favorite things i did the car. Btw I'm probably going to steal your patch over the quater to roof for less filler idea. Thanks for that!

Yes sir, I have always removed the factory lead because it usually is always cracked in that area. Doing this definitely minimizes the amount of filler and chances of cracking out later down the road.

I Really Like the work you are doing to make this 1976 Trans Am new again my Favorite year model I drove a 1976 455 4 speed Hurst Shifter white with Red interior and bird my Dad had gotten car brand new and my oldest brother drove a year and my Dad drove till I got my DL that was such a Fun car to drive came with AM radio and a very loud 8 track tape player Thank God the Music was a lot better not sure if the back ground music you have going fit the Best it did get Better from the announcement thing about OMar I remember I had Bob Segar Night Moves tape in that car but man that car sat in my Dad’s back yard and if there was any rust in the air it affixed it self to that car I believe between my oldest Brother and Dad and me we had to replace clutch 7 times the last one was a heavy duty racing clutch that was fine my Stepmoms nephew put it in and not sure how but linkage on shifter backwards and had no reverse If you fixed your background music I think it would speed up Great Job can’t wait to see finished

Geez. Looks like my nightmare. Minus the roof. What am I getting myself into. Welding is all good. It’s just the money. Lol. Looking to 3 -5 yr. New Wiring harness is probably a good upgrade. Anyways. Looking forward on your next vid

The roof on this car looks like a “Fischer T-top” version which is for a later car. The early T-tops were done by Hurst and have a wider spreader bar between the t-tops. I have a set of Hurst T-tops and the clamping rail (which goes inside the roof cavity ) a which were spares for a 1977 Trans Am I no longer own.

Yes, you are correct theses are fisher tops. We are making this car into a 77.

By doing the a tee-top conversion as you have.... is there any additional support in the suspension & uni-body needed like GM did for the convertables? Or is that all ready accounted for in the B Pillars and roof frame? Just curious.... thanks.

No extra support needed with the exception of being welded at the A post its put together just like the factory. This car is getting a full chassis from the Roadster Shop. There are lots of suspension and stiffening parts available for these cars with the factory subframe.

I enjoyed the time lapse footage, even if you dont narrate it. Would have liked to see the quarters go on. Thanks.

You can go back and watch me put the trunk drop offs, rear quarters and rear body panel on in a previous video.

This was pretty cool! Have you ever kept a little air nozzle in your hand while you weld? You can insta cool those joints, helps that warp too and or any cross contamination. I learned that from @thedirtheadshed really good idea!
@rogersrodworx6 ай бұрын
I have in the past. I figured I had so much to weld on this one I could just bounce back and forth without building up to much heat
