For those not aware: This is the Lyndonville Air Force Station/North Concord Air Force Station in Vermont, on top of East Mountain. It was a Cold War radar station intended to detect and track Soviet bombers coming over the Arctic/Greenland. It was closed in 1963, as ballistic missiles became the primary threat. At its height, the station and its support buildings were manned by almost 200 Air Force personnel. The building Post is camping on is one of the radar dish buildings; there would have been a massive domed radar mounting on the open area on top when it was operational.

Pretty smart of you to confront a situation head on instead of hunkering down and hoping people don’t notice you. I used to do things like this as a teenager into my early 20s (I’m 35 years old now) and letting my presence be known from the start would have saved me hours of panic and fear all those nights lol.

The Radar Base is only about 25 miles from my house. I've been up there many times by snowmobile in the dead of winter. At that time year the top looks like a scene from a James Bond movie. 20 years ago it was much more intact with lots of the original stuff still around. You do know that at least 3 people have died by falling off the tower....Great video.

2:10:30 That huge tank would be a cool place to camp in the freezing cold. Maybe a good fire outside near the side of the tank to make it toasty warm? But not too near. Could be an interesting video. Pressure treated wood: I worked in a millwork shop at a lumber yard for over a decade in hs though grad school. Worked with pressure treated especially in spring and summer. I cut enough 2x2 pickets to build a deck around every floor of every skyscraper in any big city. My lungs were coated in arsenic. Come to think of it, I never did get any respiratory infections when I worked there. Also fun were the 6x6s and 8x8s that were 16 feet long as still freshly wet from being pressure treated down the road. At least I was jacked from that when I was young. EDITED for some grammar and to say Post is awesome with these longer videos. This was another gem.

Thank you for revisiting this place. After your first video from there, I planned on going up the following summer, but never made anything of it. Definitely have to go next year after mud season. It's such a shame seeing these places get vandalized and little red with bottles, paint, and beer cans. Whenever I'm exploring abandoned stuff I bring a large 55 gallon trash bag with me and pick up as much as I can. It might not be much, but get enough people to do the same and you can really clean up a place.

I actually spent the weekend there and left a day before you went up there. 18:47 on the right rock you can actually see the giant scrape from my bikes skid plate when I jumped that rock.. What is really funny is me and my buddy tried our best to unclog that culvert at the bend and it made a dent but wasn't perfect.. I thought of doing that because of your channel lol. If you were paying attention riding up the road (the footage is cut from this video) you probably saw a massive scrape down the road and the gigantic patch of road missing. I took a nasty spill at night going down that Saturday. Somehow I made it out okay with just some bad bruising and scrapes and the bikes armor ate the fall pretty well too. Some guy actually broke his leg the weekend I was up there. Also the campsite you pointed out with the pan & string (not left by us) was where we stayed with hammocks. Nothing up there except birds and some coyotes. Its always such a treat to get up on that mountain. Making coffee on the top tower and watching the sun rise is truly a gift. If people bring out what they take in and don't blow up the spot, this place can be enjoyed for generations to come. Everybody I have encountered up there is friendly and just living their best life. Do not attempt to hike unless you are in shape and thoroughly prepared. Do NOT be stupid, people have died up there. I had to shuttle gear up and down the mountain for my buddies who didn't have a car/bike that could make it up. Great video. TLDR; Amazing spot, don't ruin it.

I live in the Northwest and in this area that place would literally have been reduced to concrete rubble. The steel would be hauled out to recycle or buried. The video you produced about an old dam made me think the same thing. Some agencies look at those old sites and see liabilities and dollar signs, while a lot of people see great adventures!
