I’ve been in the roofing industry a little under a year. I was banging my head against the wall trying to understand this and how to overcome it. This really helped. I was as clueless as the customer to begin with.

I like to make the deductible bigger as an example. If you have a 10,000 claim and your deductible is 5,000 insurance gives you only 5,000 for the work. Sir or ma'am do you know anyone that will do a 10,000 roof for 5,000? Neither do I!

One can use the term co-pay, u have a deductible on ur health ins or your car, right. Just like a co-pay the deductible is ur co-pay. Let's call the carrier right now and ask them.

Ok 20,000 $ estimate , Deductible $ 2,000 , Carrier pays $ 18,000 , but subtract $ 2,000 , so they pay $ 16,000 , u pay $2,000 , Where is the other two thousand dollars coming from to pay the contractor.

Sorry still confused. So my total repair cost is around 7k, they sent me a check of 4k. My deductible is 3k. My adjuster told me i have to pay my roofer the deductible. So does this mean after all that i have 1k left to go towards the repair....im lost

I’m getting people who are saying their insurance company told them not to pay the contractor their deductible! And I’m also getting a lot of people who are gun shy about giving money to me prior to starting.
