Excellent! The only video that I've seen where a layer of water shield is installed before putting the boot on top. This is so important especially in LA where the roof can get so hot in the summer sealants tend to dry and crack. Any extra layer of sealant material is always good. Great job, Chris.

Put a second pipe gasket over the 1st gasket to protect the 1st gasket from the sun(makes it last a long time)

Agreed. I’ve done exactly that for this kind of leak and it always fixes the problem. Unless the roof jack itself is damaged, this extreme is totally unnecessary.

I bet I've paid a roofer 4 times to fix this kind of leak and never has he ever replaced the collar like this. Makes me mad when people charge you over and over to fix something and they do not even suggest replacing the collar like you just did. I am furious now. How do I find reputable roofers in the central AR area??

angela all you need to do is put one of your sons or daughters to do it. I believe that anyone can do what any other human can do, as long as it ain't something athletic. Just offer any lazy teenager in your family some 20 bucks for the fix, tell him to research how to fix the leak and tell him you want a good job.

I only have a daughter and she works 6 days a week and could not get on my roof and knows less about fixing one than I do. I would not let her get up on my roof and risk falling off anyway. I just want to hire someone that knows what they are doing at a fair price. I'm tired of getting ripped off and that water ruining my ceiling in my bathroom. I'm disabled. I don't agree with you. Would you want a teenager to do your brain surgery? I don't think so. Not everything can be learned just from a book or a video. It takes skill as well and experience. I don't want anyone practicing on me.
