If you want this to be super sturdy, i've used through and through M8 bolts with washers from the inside of the roof on my car on the pillars with locking nuts and fully sealed with seam sealer. I went through two custom roof racks and never had a single flex even with me jumping on it. Most people won't like making holes like those on their roof but if you want this to never fail even if you put another car on top of it you should consider it.

Hey John, thats a great way to do it and fully agree its probably the best. Takes alot more time, but means you are doing it the right way.

Do you remember the measurement of the mounting brackets that fit onto the backbone?

On the hilux looks quite ok. I saw an MuX today and it looked terrible, like it was way too high off the top and like a cow on stilts

Don’t use pop rivets the work lose rust your vehicle and whole rack blows off
@JRCadventures Жыл бұрын
They are alloy pos so they won't rust.

No they dont, mine are 10 years old and not 1 problem!
@AUCongnitiveRealistАй бұрын
@@legopepsi same! I put mine on my n70 almost 10 years ago but used oversize stainless rivets and she's rock solid. IMO Rhino should supply larger, more corrosion resistant attaching hardware. Would have saved them a lot of trouble and maybe even pushed people to have these professionally installed as you can't rip these in without a pneumatic or hydraulic riveter.
