Lets learn Marvel! - How to build up your team (with examples)

Here is a video going over the basics of team building, and giving you 7 example teams with the how/why of them to get your brain churning so you can figure out what you really want to play!
Team examples:

Hulk's not slow in this game. You could say that about his UMvC3 iteration but in Infinite he is a completely different character. He's actually surprisingly nimble now.

I liked this guide. Definitely opened my mind to some interesting strats. I just got into marvel and play morrigan hulk without a real strategy so I might look into someone with synergy to hulk or morrigan like your examples. Loving the marvel content keep it up

I just like to mix people via the soul stone. A nice Hyper Combo match is Ghost Rider and Frank West. I like the mix between the Shopping Cart and the Motor Bike. They also happen to have matching white suits.

i use zero and monster hunter atm because i really like those characters but over playing i realize at least in my mind are very synergetic zero plays mostly back up where he will get in for monster hunter so she can set up for her high damaging combos thatshe usually has a hard time getting in for due to her low movement. team maverick hunter zero plays recon and monster hunter plays execution. zero can even use his supers to set up for monster hutners for a example if zero uses his tornado super you can combo her uncharged upwards bow into her meteor super which can lead depending how you land it into a combo and if you have bar into another super.

A friend recommended you to get some tips for MvCI and so far I am impressed. You earned yourself a sub. I am playing around with a couple teams. I am using either Morrigan/Dormammu+Mind stone or Firebrand/Thanos+Soul. I was wondering which team do you think has more potential?

i'd have to give it to morri/dorm simply on the character choices themselves. They are solid enough and compliment each other quite well. Thanos is a character that would wanna work with someone quick and decent left right/high low mixups since he can force one near everytime he teleports, hits a button, and then tags out.

Thank you for making this video! I have always struggled with the team building aspects of the Marvel series, in that I can pick good characters, but may not necessarily be able to form a good "team", so this video has given me some assistance in how to improve that aspect. Just curious, would you happen to have any recommendations on ideal partners for Dante, Captain Marvel, or X?

Honestly dante and marvel can make just about anyone work. However for Dante in particular I would say pick someone who can really benefit from high/low mixups while the foe is forced to block his long gun super. Marvel shes just super well rounded across the board, she easily compliments anyones gameplan. X uhhhh I duno, I don't know much about X :(

Great content. This is definitely something rarely anyone has covered. Side note: Have you done one on how to tri-dash and how to create crossups using said tri-dashes?

Not yet but its on the plate. I will say compared to older games its more than a bit difficult to crossup with trijumps since the buttons you'd wanna use for those don't cross up. Generally its now trijump for instant overhead, boxdash for crossup.

Thanks man, very useful video. I want to main Jedah and have been looking for a solid second. I hear Ultron and Gamora are good pairing. What are your thoughts?

Rocket Lawnchair Jedah should be your second as he is muchhh more of a support character than a point character. His entire kit is based around extending teammates combos into unblockables and mixups. I mean if you really want to play Jedah on point you definitely can and should if it's what you really want, but he is 100% a stronger character on support. Good luck and play some marvel bimbo!

I agree with what the other gentleman wrote. Jedah is a great support shell for another character, but he shouldn't be the primary offense of a team. Rocket racoon space stone team, or any of the faster characters all benefit from having jedah as their backup.

My oddball team is jedah spencer space Both have projectiles that fill up the screen, spencer has really painful meterless followups for jedahs supers, and a command grab that can catch fools

It's funny how I'm going bsck to this vid, even after finding s very solid team. Dante's inevitable nerf is giving me a reason to experiment with other chars. And finding another combo for Zero that isn't Dante, Jedah or an eight way dash char is kinda difficult.

A big part of caps neutral is shield tossing, so you would want someone who could either a) convert off shields easily enough, especaially catching them in the air, or b) can abuse setups off trick shield. So ultron/nova/captain marvel/morrigan are all great convertors of combos, and someone with a command throw is a perfect example to use for getting people scared into blocking trick shield.

Honestly I think anyone and Dormammu is great. Dormammu is probably the best pound for pound support character in the game and he can get setups off just about everything.

Well first off and I really mean this when I say it, play who you want. The worst thing that could happen when you pick any two characters is that you'd be "un-optimal" which still isn't the end of the world. That said Nem doesn't have a lot of pressure and kinda wants to occupy the same back screen Chris would (although with button instead of projectiles) so they are sorta playing over the same gamespace. It's not the end of the world but generally chris could benefit from someone who wants to be on offense a bit more, especially with jump smg lockdown for example.

Nova can basically do anything, and thus works with just about anyone really.

Honestly just anyone who gives dormammu time to setup spells. Things that can hold you in a decently long animation while you tag in dorm and just gain spells. Dante is probably the best example as he has a longer super and also specials that hold you down a long time as well.

Layout I personally use is: attack buttons are set to default, r1 set to stone surge, r2 set to tag. Not saying that's the best but its what works for me.

I can tell you X with powerstone is fantastic, he can't really crossup normally but he has a very serviceable air dash. Power stone lets someone like him get access to a strong crossup as powerstone always auto corrects what side you are on when you use it. So all you need to do is dash, get a bit over their head, activate, and you got your own ghetto guess which side 50/50.

Do you actually think Firebrand/Spencer has merit as a team, or was that more of a joke?

I think both are currently critically under explored. Game has only been out for a month and people are gravitating towards the more obviously strong characters. Firebrand specifically I think is pretty decent yet there's so little out there on him.

Spiderman easily gets in, and then you can tag in ultron to do his mixup thing. Honestly its not too bad.

I feel jedah is the "support" of the two characters with how his moveset works. I feel that he just basically ups most peoples combo damage so he can support just about anyone, but he shouldn't be the basis of your offense.

From my personal gameplay Haggar absolutely benefits the most from reality stone. He is terrifying up close but its hard for him to cut through the crap and reality stone and barrel tosses helps him do that.
