Currently using my camper shell as my stealth camping setup but this has me thinking of switching it up. Nice rig brotha.

I did the same thing for over a year before I got the tent. If I had a 6ft bed I'd still be doing it. Thanks for reaching out brother 👊

I am very familiar with the "dance" we do tucking in the tent before collapsing the top down. I have a Palomino slide in pop up camper and it takes me about 5 minutes to set up or break down. I cheat a little because I use the ceiling/roof fan to vacuum the air out as I am collapsing the top down. It works great to prevent pinching or damaging the tent material. I have only seen a few RTTs with a roof fan but I would add one if I ever get a RTT for my FJ. The Palomino goes on my Silverado 2500HD. Motel room on wheels with bathroom and shower. Great videos Brother ! I live over in Harrodsburg, KY and travel out west to CO, NM, AZ, WY every year.

Sounds like a rad set up! I'm jealous of the yearly excursions out west. I'm hoping to go myself sometime in the next year or two.

I have the SmittyBilt version. Nice tents. But next one will be a Wedge. Much easier to deploy and Tear down

I bought one about 9 months ago. My question is how do you get rid of that chemical smell inside the tent? It is truly obnoxious. I've tried airing it out for days at a time and it seems to dissipate a bit but as soon as I close it for a day or two, the next time I open its all stinky again. That brand new industrial strength glue smell. I love it otherwise just can't get rid of that smell.

I would try washing the mattress liner and wipe down the canvas with a soft cleaner. Also a few camping trips getting rained on might help 😂

Your set up looks like the RTT needs to be moved toward the rear of the vehicle by about a foot or so. It looks like the windshield is ducting the air directly under the RTT while driving down the highway. It may cause some lift and it will certainly reduce MPG that far forward. Nice rig though.

I have been looking at tear drops, but i like these. I have a bad back do you think a thicker mattress would fit and still allow it to close?
@BluegrassOverland Жыл бұрын
Yes, I used to keep two sleeping bags, pillows, blankets, etc. inside the tent and everything would fit no problem.

How does it handle high winds?
@BluegrassOverland Жыл бұрын
It does surprisingly well. The trick is to park parallel with the wind direction to reduce the amount of surface area

$2000 a good deal for one of these?
@BluegrassOverland Жыл бұрын
If it's in great condition with the ladder, shoe bags, rain fly poles, etc included that's about right. Probably looking closer to $1500 in fair condition. Just my two cents.
