Hey Skye, we just did the New Jersey high point, Ebright Azimuth, and Point Reno about a month ago. At the time, High Point, NJ just seemed like a snowy, cold, windy hill higher than the surrounding hills with a replica of the Washington Monument on top. The time you have spent researching, writing, and filming Rooftops of America has allowed me to see the state high points in a different and better way. Thank you!

Thanks Quinn! Half the fun for me is uncovering the stories of these areas and sharing them with a larger audience. Cheers!

Great video!!! Thank you!!! For a trip thru my memory. It brought thoughts of my only trip to High Point in November 1969. My Dad gave me his Argus C3 Camera for my birthday just before the ride, and this was the 1st time I used it. Best Birthday Gift Ever. The detailed history took me back to 4th grade NJ history, 9th grade Earth Science and college senior year NJ Geography. Thanks for a well researched and well presented video!!!

I lived up near High Point for 7 years. Our municipal wells were sourced above us, high in the Kittatinny ridge. It remains the best tap water that I've ever experienced. Ice cold and crystal clear.

That sucks to hear that. I'm really hoping to get to the Konvention in July, but if not, I'll be focused on New England for this summer. Thanks for watching!

Great video, and a wealth of information. Well done! The survey disk you call a "bench mark" is actually a reference mark (notice the arrow stamped into it) which points to the bench mark. When I was there I could not find the actual bench mark. I found the reference disk of your video, plus another reference disk on the other side of the Obelisk.
@RooftopsofAmerica3 жыл бұрын
Stony Burk sent me a note and said the actual benchmark is tucked in right by the stairs by the monument. Funny thing, I actually had it written as reference mark in the script but called it a benchmark in the four takes we did there. The joys of filming efficiently!

I would have to say that high point is about as north and central in the state as you can get, not north west. Great video though👍👍 Also, just wondering if you guys have done a vidoe on the border stones from the hudson to the deleware. Ive often wanted to hike the border and track the stones down but have never gotten around to it. Ill have to look through your videos. Keep up the great work and thank you for all that you do✌👋

Great episode! Very informative. But did you say Cooper’s Hawk was endangered? I see them regularly in Virginia.
@RooftopsofAmerica3 жыл бұрын
They were listed as endangered in New Jersey several decades ago but they have been recovering. They're still listed in NJ as a special concern but due to population increase they'll probably graduate off the list.
@streamlinetreecare1823 жыл бұрын
Well that’s good to know. I certainly see many more raptors today than I did when I was a kid. Banning DDT happened just in time to save many birds of prey.
