We visit Kings Peak, the rooftop of Utah. Located in the Ashley National Forest in the Uinta Mountains, this area has a long history dating back thousands of years. Early explorers found a land of rich with resources that later became a land of promise for early Mormons.
Kings Peak rises up over 13,000 feet and is a worthy challenge for all highpointers due to the long distance one must cross to achieve it's summit. Join us as we explore America and go highpointing!

Thanks! The shortcut is well enough traveled now that its not hard to pick it out going up the slope. Just got to warn everyone not to head into the boulder field once you get on the flat.

Hi! Nice to meet you yesterday. Just got a chance to start my morning by watching your video. It was fantastic! Love all the history and background you cover on the area where Kings peak is located and then so awesome that you hike to the highpoint too. Also, thought the just the facts section was a nice touch too.

Congrats on getting this one out finally! Really enjoyed it. Did not know about James Buchanan's history with Utah and the Mormons. I haven't done Kings yet but hopefully in the next couple years I can make it out there.

Another good one! I did it as a one day 11h 20 min thing with a few mis-steps. Did not realize that the shortcut to the right will be a scramble with occasional markers. Worse than that, on the way down I did not stick to the ridge line but dropped down in hope of finding a trail and ultimately went straight down into the basin through a very, very unstable boulder field. Would not recommend that move at all. I did Borah the day before and that was lovely, but I was pretty beat up next morning after Kings.

That's a lot of work to put in for two days. When I can up the shortcut I actually headed into the boulder field and wasted time and energy getting through it. Glad you had a successful summit!
