I remember years ago, on All The Smoke, Gilbert Arenas said Kwame was like AD. I can definitely see it now! It goes to show you how the circumstances/coaching can affect the growth of a young player. The right coach would’ve put him in better spots to use his speed and jumper. Not just relying on post ups to score.

I watched the Wizards back then.Kwame was treated like an unwanted child.Only played garbage minutes and the Wizards treated him like they didn’t want him.Kwame said they only drafted him to trade for Elton Brand and the trade didn’t happen.That scenario was very plausible.Jordan was in win NOW mode back then and Elton Brand would have gotten the Wizards into the playoffs.

All it takes is for you to be in a negative/toxic environment for your skills to diminish. That goes for every job; the worst part of the job is the people you work with. Some who will do anything to put you down or in their mind humble you to make themselves feel better. the HS scouting reports released before the 2001 draft said that Kwame was known to rely on his midrange jumpshot a lot (sometimes even too much). He shot with great form, too. I really don't understand what happened to his jumper

Kwame Brown, talent wise, was an all-star potential player worthy of being selected with the first pick. I believe his career was sabotaged by the powers that be because he chose not to go along with their agendas. Hence the fact the media and people like Stephen A. Anybody with a decent memory remembers the NBA as a whole was against HS players being drafted and the nba traditionalist like a doug collins hell even David Stern was aginst it which lead to the one and done rule eventually being passed. Despite the success of players like kobe and KG the NBA had a concern of being overran by hs players and having a draft where 4 of your top 5 picks didnt play college ball it forced the nba to act. Kwame browns success was haulted by the higher ups if he was such a terrible player he wouldn't have lasted 10 years in the NBA common sense should tell ppl that but hey

I am the same age as Kwame Brown. Kwame Brown had game. Out of all the players in our class he and Dejaun Wagner had the most game to me. I really believe that alot of us that know basketball could do better for some players. Why pick him number 1 and then try to make him Shaq. He was never that. He was a skilled 4 man. The league killed his confidence. On the flip side was definitely a grown man league back then and had He took a year or two to develop mentally and some physically the story might be different. Don't get me wrong as far as physique he had a great body for his age, but there is a difference between an 18 year 240 pounder and an 21 year 240 pounder. The physical development between those years are leaps and bounds.Bro really had game but bad management and immaturity is a bad combination.

Yep. Hands stiffened up. He had issues catching passes and losing the ball in traffic. Lost the touch on his jumper and on finishing inside I think in large part bc the game was too fast for him. Like, he had a nice first step for a big, but then he'd rush his shots around the rim and miss. His footwork was never good, at least on offense.

We all know if you have the right staff to teach a kid how to be a 20 and 10 guy and that’s the goal of the organization to do then they’re gonna focus on that and unfortunately the wizards did not do that.
