Swampicide PA streets are not fun in a car, much less a truck. Had to pickup a load of baby food there once, and the roads suck, the docking area was a big joke made for old pup trailers not 53ft, never so glad to get the hell out of there....

I'm starting my new CDL A Semi job on Monday and I'm watching all these little videos trying to gain some vicarious experience. I would greatly benefit from watching more of those tight right turns and how you handle them. 1st person perspective is so much better than bird's eye view videos I keep seeing. Plenty of vids on backing too but again, no first person. Not even a sped up version!

Nice driving! My belief is that it should be illegal for full size trucks to navigate roads like that. I think we should drop it somewhere outside the city limits and a day cab can take it home, but that’ll never happen bc the puppet masters aren’t the ones on the string.

That would significantly raise the price of freight. Cost prohibited. Plus, you have a number of “Desk Jockies” who have zero experience in driving a truck who will say, “Well, all the other drivers did it...” like a desk Jockie has any clue how difficult to drive and back up a truck.

I don't know why cabovers are not more popular in North America. Freightliner Argosy was the last one. May still be available as a Glider kit (rolling cab and chassis with no driveline)

Are the settings on your truck GPS correct for your unit? Maybe you have HAZMAT listed as one of the parameters? I used to run both HAZMAT and non-HAZMAT loads and would occasionally forget to switch back and forth. Anyway, enjoyed the video as always, Rasim.

I grew up about 5 miles from there...moved 30 miles south, but went thru there on 837 every day, to work...Clairton still has a USSteel Plant(on his left)...Coke works...lot of drugs travel from East coast thru there, and surrounding communities...

It's best that you still do since technology isn't always reliable, no matter how much it is deemed to be. It still doesn't and shouldn't replace paper maps. Some drivers use the motor carrier atlas it's updated every year and make sure to get the laminated one. Personally, I like being able to write on the map and erase it afterwards. I have planned routes now so I don't use it as much as I used to. Planning is everything -a time management skill needed in this job indeed.

Fr8roftheNight when I ran otr I wrote down everything and when I got to a city I used my cb to ask what traffic was like around the loops. If I ever go back out I’d still write everything down. You can’t replace the old notebook.
