@KaIubka alpha is first letter of the Greek alphabet and as such it generally means "first" or begining. So a volley is an alpha strike (typically in refrence to a large one, like artillery); being primary in a fleet battle means your the alpha target (the first). In this video they were worried that the initial damage would be enough to get threw the armor; hence, why the pilot had slave impants.

Still love Rooks and Kings and their amazing tactics. You guys have persuaded me to train for logistics and hopefully one day reach an Archon :) Guardians come first though, so I should have a fair amount of fun with those haha :) To who ever was flying that triage carrier at the end, well done, played well throughout the hole fight and if it wasn't for you i am sure those last few carriers would have been popped also. Well sacrificed :)

@KaIubka The resistances are already calculated for ehp. The kill mails aren't very accurate either they only calculate an amount of damage received over the last 14 min or aggro counter (*not sure of time length) . If it takes longer to kill or the aggro stops and starts again the total hit points will not be seen in the kill mail. Almost all capitals will hang in a fight long enough to reset the counter, smaller ship fights will be more accurate for ehp.

@KaIubka ehp is the amount of hitpoints your ship can withstand before exploding, generally its the amount of buffer you have before death. But this doesn't have anything to do with sustained defense of a ship such as reps or remote reps (although survival depends on both). A lot of tools/utilities show average ehp over all resistances on the ship; however, the ship could die with much lower ehp if attacked at the lowest resistance, hence the kill mail showing diffrent ehp.

@KaIubka A good example of a use of efp is: A typical battleship has ~100,000 hitpoints, so an aggressor doing 1000 dps will kill your ship in 100seconds. If your battleship as a local rep of 350dps then you can subtract this from the aggressors damage (1,000dps - 350dps) = 650dps. 100,000/650 means you will last about 153 seconds with the rep (not exact, but close).

@KaIubka when you alpha a target, everyone shoots at the same target at the same time for highest volley damage. Some ships will have a lower effective hit point value then the sum of volley damage from all aggressors.

@D3adP00I "amount of hitpoints your ship can withstand"....yeah that's what I thought, too, but....back to the example with the Nyx. A properly fit Nyx, slaved etc., has an EHP-value of 28.239.040. In the killmails, they take 2,8-3,0 million damage until they pop. The worst resist is Explosive with 84,8. That means that, if the enemies do only Explosive damage, they do 84,8% less damage than they technically should, right? So just 15,2%. I now divided the Nyx's EHP by 100...

@D3adP00I I'm getting it from EFT. Average resists are 89%, I'm using the standard fit (Slave set, 4 Hardeners, 2 EANMs (Corpum A-Type ofc), Damage Control, 3x Trimark Armor Pump). I get 2,95 million Armor HP and 28,2 million EHP, EFT tells me that. My Wyvern fit reaches 40 mil HP with 2 Pithum A-Types, 5x Pith-X hardeners, 3x CN Power Diagnostics, Shield Core Extenders and also a Slave set plus an implant that gives +6% shield HP.

Liam McGowan Have gotten interested in your videos and those of RooksandKings, however I have to ask: Were you having trouble deciding between Music Montages of EVE Battles or Narrated Accounts of True EVE Experiences? The voice needs to go over the music and the music needs to fade to the background when someone talks. I shouldn't have to turn my volume up from 25 to 85 to hear the narration just somewhat clearly. This one was the worst for having the narrator drowned out by the music so far, hope to see better balancing in videos ahead.

@KaIubka im not sure were ur getting the 28mill hitpoints from. A nyx has 2.9million average over all resistances unfitted. Even with slaves and high resistances with tech two trimark its possible to get 18million but most people will not fit a ship like this. When you look at efp, the resistances are already calculated into effect no need for math (depending on what tool your getting your numbers from). But 28.4 mill is way off.

It means they are using implants to stop an alpha strike burning through the armour points as Chimeras are shield based platforms, their armour is terrible. By changing the setup most people are used to they will be set up for EM damage and this is the highest resistance in armour. Hence making them come to a gun fight with a stick.
