I felt really angry on Richardson's behalf, here. When you tell people you don't like dancing, that you don't want to dance at a party or something, the universal first response is "let's start you off with something easy. I guarantee you'll have fun." Sod your guarantee. I've obviously tried dancing before, how else would I know that I hate doing it? Why is my lack of participation bothering you so much? I'm not throwing buckets of water on you whenever you start twitching, you can do what you like. Get back on the bloody dance floor and let me enjoy my nibblies in peace.

I think that Jon made some very good comebacks towards Craig especially, but he was waiting for the right time to say them. For example, when Craig made a comment at Jon, later Jon would later make a dig at Craig's shoes. I think that he was just doing what a comedian would do, just waiting for the right time to come in. When making a comment to someone like Craig, you really need that. But he did actually get more applause than the other two.

@praveenraj52496 жыл бұрын
ash thomas, I'm quite certain that he is like that in real life as well. It is very much possible. I know it because I share a lot in common with his personality. Mild OCD/perfectionism, check (actually the OCD is quite high but we know that it's not good, so we tend to ignore most of it, just like Jon did in the show). Popularity among women, check (we are quite charming, honest, sensitive and quick witted, but lack the confidence mostly because we don't know anything about women. My guess is he doesn't have a sister either). 1.Dancing: I love watching people dance. It makes me happy that they are having such a good time. But in parties and such, if you're asked to dance and doesn't have the grace these pro dancers have, all you do is embarrass yourself and may even become the butt of a joke. Why would anyone want to do that?! 2.Married friends: Even though it does make me a bit jealous, I'm quite happy for them. I tend to ignore the jealousy, since, as much as I'm interested in relationships, I'm not that interested in marriages. It always tend to be be tricky. But I'm happy for them being able to follow the tradition. 3.The brain: This is absolutely true. All my problems arise from overthinking. I try to reason with my conscience all the time. It's exhausting and makes life completely boring. Sometimes, I envy the people who are commonly categorized as 'idiots' for their ability to "not give a shit" about anything serious. I tried alcohol, but all it did was put me less in control of my extremities, but I still remember every detail of it. Why does everything fun come in an "out of the scope of reasoning" package? >_

Actual comedians like Lee Mack or Jimmy Carr are always respectful of him and just give him some friendly ribbing to the level that he's comfortable with. Next time someone tries to force me to dance, I'll hand them a guitar (because I play guitar as a hobby) and say play, let's say, Flight of the Bumblebee on this. And when they say "I don't play guitar", I'll respond "Oh go on, just do it...

Jon is part of an uncommon but ever-present group of people who tend to be happier by themselves than with others. I think Stephen Fry falls into this category as well; I certainly do. Jon is so convincing on the subject of being forced to dance. When David Mitchell and Charlie Brooker raised that issue on the Big Fat Quiz (incidentally, the three of them would be the perfect line-up for this show) the same thing happened. Dean Winchester Sometimes when you are smart but don't know how to be humble about it you mistake self loathing for humility, at least that is what I do XD. Plus it does make a funny gag if you are the kind of person who enjoys a joke at your expense as much as one at somebody else's.
@WalterLiddy9 жыл бұрын
Dean Winchester The thing is, Jon's comedy is self-deprecating and meant to be funny. But when the people around him actually sit there and agree that he's pathetic the humor is diminished and he starts to just seem sad. He's not REALLY that full of self-loathing.

But I always feel good about people (myself and others) after watching Jon Richardson, so that's got to say something positive about him. ;-) And I've previously had a soft spot for Sheila Hancock, so I was sorry to see her turn into the kind of guest who puts other guests down when she's out of her depth. Another guest immediately said 'I'll get you started with a warm-up run', to which Olivia said [and I am quoting] "Fuck off! I just said I hate everything about marathon running". For the next five minutes, she wouldn't let it go, until Graham just shut it down. Richard Ayoade had a similar experience on one of the 'Big Fat Quiz' shows, and got really vocal about how some people just can't understand that some people just don't want to do certain things, and that they don't have to just because someone else thinks they should.
