@aenamabag2 жыл бұрын
They're the absolute worst. It's not so much the wheeled suitcase itself, its the combination of those with a society that has absolutely no social awareness. People in the UK, US, and commonwealth countries seem to have such a lack of spacial awareness that it comes off as a sense of extreme entitlement, as if every public space belongs to them and only them, and everyone else should be going way out of their way so they can own the space. Basically, good people with wheeled suitcases are fine, but most people are the worst.
@helvete9832 жыл бұрын
@@aenamabag I've good very good spacial awareness. I love using my suitcase as a weapon. For example, when trying to get off a bus, and some prick doesn't want to wait for passengers to disembark, my little suitcase smashing them in the legs tends to make them step back and hopefully learn some manners.
@aenamabag2 жыл бұрын
@@helvete983 I think you've just made a good distinction between spacial awareness and social awareness. You, personally, might have both and use your wheelie luggage as a weapon, because you have to due to the broader societal lack of social awareness. Fair enough, fight fire with fire I guess. The general use of the wheelie luggage still blows.

+LuRawen I do the same, but I rarely get treated well by 'gentlemen' under 60 (and above 60 usually hold the door open and then make explicit comments about my dress or my evening-plans and I don't like that.) The worst moment for me, was when I sat on the stairs in a trainstation, crying and holding my stomach. And a very heavy book-suitcase at my feet, that I needed to carry up the stairs. A guy around the age of 22 came up to me (I was 18) and asked me if I needed help. He sat down next to me and said; 'Are you hurting, you seem like you're in need of help. Tell me, do you perhaps use medication, do you have an illness of some sort? Do I need to call a friend for you? I'll sit with you untill the train comes alright? And I'll help you with that suitcase." I answered: 'Thank you so much. I'm not really in actual danger, don't worry, I have a woman's problem, but I very much appreciate you sitting next to me." He said; 'What, a woman's problem?" and I whispered; 'I'm actually on my period, my stomach is cramping." He stood up without saying a word and just walked off. And left me with my pain and shame on the stairs, carrying the heavy bag on my own and loudly bursting into tears on the train, while I layed horizontally on the trainseats and tried not to vomit. I mean...I wish I could go back and time and ask the guy why he did that. It was the moment I réálly needed some gentleman to help me, he gave me the hope that he was someone like that and then just walked off because I said; 'Period.'

Suitcases with wheels are useful for people with disabilities. My mum couldn't ever go on holiday without them; she has major problems with her back, neck and legs. I think you're misinterpreting his complaint. If, say, half the population went around in wheelchairs because they're comfortable and he went on this show to complain about there being too many people around in wheelchairs, his complaint obviously wouldn't be aimed at the people who need to use wheelchairs. The vast majority of people who use smaller cases on wheels could easily carry the items in that case in a rucksack.

She has a long history of playing the "I'm so outspoken and edgy/telling it how it is" person. Every time she appears on a show she acts like this, the fact she kept attacking Ben every chance she had is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to how nasty she is. Some people think she's OK because of her 80s feminist credentials but this sadly lets her get away with saying things that reflect badly on women in general, as people aren't always really listening to what she's actually saying.

Today basically every suitcase has wheels. I actually googled suitcases without wheels and I got a bunch of vintage suitcases for sale secondhand. You can still get dufflebags & other small carry-on size bags without wheels but you'd have to really search to find a normal modern suitcase being made today without wheels. Softsided suitcases are getting more rare as well but that is probably more to do with needing something really durable to survive the torture commercial airlines put our bags through these days.

By that rationale, you could argue that Top Gear is TV for men (like she says), but a large number of viewers are female like myself. Like I said, those of us in the UK have experience of seeing JSP in action know that she does not mean these things as a joke, that she is always this way and that she is every bit as nasty, moaning, self-consciously "edgy" and deliberately confrontational with little real talent beyond selling Brand Porter. 01:40 she says jingoistic (which might be where I misheard), yet she goes on to mention what blokish television it is despite the fact that like she says, women fish just like men so why assume no women watch (not to mention attacking Ben for no reason)? She has been a figure in UK media since the 80s, and when people say such things it is based on what we have observed of her in many different situations. It isn't merely based on this show alone but there is little room here to describe that.

🤔 How come no one ever says this about men. I mean there were two men giving their opnion too yet they didn't trigger you lol

@@karmakutie1668 It's not about men and women, really; it's about Janet herself. She is so unlikable, unfunny and uncharismatic, and that's even before you add her horrible, nails on a chalkboard voice. Her points, if were presented by, say, Jo Brand, could have been funny and entertaining; but here, I just wanted to hit her face with a broom.

And she got a round of applause for it - not because the point she made was in any way worth making, but because she'd made such a scene it would be awkward if no-one applauded

They need to get more comedians, that get that it´s not about griping, but about being funny while incidentally griping. Everybody on this episoe except Greg Davies was just a bit whiny.

Okay, she is more than miserable. She insults anyone who isn't like her, especially men. Wow.
