I’ve been waiting for someone to make an animatic of this for so long. Ever since I first watched Sanders Sides I’ve associated Janus with this song and after watching Hamilton again recently when it came to Disney+ even more so. A connection I didn’t even make until watching this animatic was the part that goes “You ain’t gonna win unless you’re playing the game, you get love for it, you get hate for it, you get nothing if you wait for it.” Virgil didn’t hide from Thomas, and yes, at first he was hated, but eventually he was loved. Before “Can Lying Be Good” Janus never even have the opportunity to be accepted since he never showed up.

Even sadder for me is he had no say in when he showed up, Thomas has to admit they exist first. He has to want to know them, like the classic 4 told him when Janus first showed up. That means Thomas heard of & accepted his anxiety long before he was willing to accept he has deceit in him. It is a hard thing to accept but to give it emotions, I can't imagine how he'd feel with that knowing his goal is also only to help Thomas. He couldn't be in the room because Thomas didn't want him there.

THIS. IS. GENIUS. The sequence of scenes leading up to the ending (and the ENDING, goodness gracious!!) is PERFECTLY timed for dramatic effect, and so thrilling!!! I love the moment where Janus peers from atop the staircase (implying that upstairs, similarly, is the living area of the Dark Sides, and that Virgil is on the in-between), and just that sneaking moment of curiosity. I love how you place each verse within a specific episode (and add onto it, furthermore). AND that LOOOK that Thomas gives Virgil at 3:28 - so mysterious. Anyway, im a geek. lovely job.
