My tip that helped be win against other high level players in a tournament: Don’t forget or be afraid to reserve a random card from the top of a deck. I find with four competent players the market will quickly be emptied of cards that are gem-to-point efficient. Everyone will be hoarding gems needed for any cards that were reserved face-up, but now the other players don’t know what they should hoard to stop you, at least until they see you start to collect a color. Even if you don’t get a useful card, a random card adds an unknown element for the other players in game that is otherwise perfect information. And you need gold anyway because of all the gem hoarding, might as well have a chance for a random game winning draw.

That's a really neat strategy! I'd be worried it would be too random, but it might yield something you're absolutely right, and worst case you needed the Gold anyway. Nice!

5. This should be tip number one as this is basically a full strategy XD 6. when possible block completly one color and don't use it for a few rounds, but its very situational

I would consider myself an average player, typically win more games against family, but often get my butt kicked on BGA. The most impressive win I witnessed while playing Splendor on BGA , was someone who sneakily went after mostly level one cards, quickly building an engine that didn't require many chips midway. They were able to snag every Noble in their last 3 turns. I've tried this strategy a couple of times but haven't pulled it off.

How can they snag 5 nobles in 3 turns if you can only get 1 noble per turn tho? Or did they take the 3 remaining ones?
@MrJmarzetti8 ай бұрын
@@jozokrstanovic9040 For the Nobles, I am pretty sure you take them as soon as you meet their criteria. I don't think you are limited to only one. Besides, it happened on BGA, and they auto-implement the rules.
@jozokrstanovic90408 ай бұрын
@@MrJmarzetti the rules state that getting a noble doesn't count as an turn action but you can only get 1 per turn. If you are in a position to get multiple in a single turn, you choose which one you get and you can only get the second one your next turn.

@@MrJmarzetti you are definetely limited to one per turn

Ran into plenty of them on BGA as awell. While I'm working hard to get quality points and have 8 to 10 point lead, these cockroaches will jump from 0 or 2 to 13 points in few turns. Quite infuriating

4. Nobles are usually the most important if I am able to build into two of them at once and possibly blocking someone on the way

After crushing one friend in most other games they'll always suggest Splendor if they're looking for an easy win. I lose all the time at Splendor, thanks for this!

Man its like you are making these videos for me. I am going a cabin this weekend and the main games we are going to play are Catan and Splendor, maybe some others. I have never just gone for the level two+. I like to snowball, but I see how that makes sense. Will have to give a try.

1. good idea to think which of 3rd row cards as not a lot will come
@stephendavis73272 жыл бұрын
I always prioritize gaining more gems to try and snowball my way to getting several nobles. It's not always an effective strategy, but it's my splendor for dummies (myself) strategy. 😂
@RoomandBoardReviews2 жыл бұрын
Haha yeah that's how I normally lose when I do. Often I can race those who are going for nobles and get to 15 before the Nobles pan out for them. Likely because the Nobles are dependent on the colour that turns up and if there isn't a significant amount of cycle then you're reliant on the deck yielding the colours you need.

While you say you are considering all player counts, the strategies you mentioned are more geared to a 4 player game. At 2 players the shorter chip stacks make buying top row cards take longer, so that buying bottom row cards to win nobles is a stronger strategy.
@RoomandBoardReviews2 жыл бұрын
I primarily play 2 players. I find the Nobles to be more successful in a 4 player game because there's more turnover in the bottom cards and you're less reliant on luck of the draw hoping your colours come up

I gotta watch the Catan video. I suck at Catan.. 🤣😅 I started playing it on boardgamearena but it's hard to get good trades. Played it in person once and did better but still only had 6 points or less by end game.
@RoomandBoardReviews2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I find Catan is always better in person or with voice chat, it's all about the negotiation.
