Saw the film today. It was WONDERFUL. And so much of the film was about eye contact and subtleties, touches and the non-verbal. It was captured so excellently in film. I will see it again and or own it. I also can't believe this is the same actress that played "Girl With The Dragon Tattoo".

This film deserves a Criterion release.

That last question was hard to answer, and very interesting, thanks for asking that. Rooney has always been an observer, even when she's at the center. I like that about her.

SPIDER LILIEZ Because of the fact she's a great observer I loved Therese even more: Rooney can be so natural on her, without going out of the schemes. I appreciated very much her kind of childish behaviour, like a surprise of the world that she gets from the moment she knows Carol, as if she was reborn, and that becomes self-consciousness and maturity by the end. I also love the fact that, ad an actress, she doesn't expose herself and prefers to avoid the spotlight, nor try to be eccentric just because she's famous and has talent: this honors her!

Were they both wearing wigs in the movie? I thought I read in an interview that Cate had a (convincing) wig. If not, how did Rooney's hair get so long again?!

ShellyDZ99 what do you mean? Rooney wore a wig as well. If not, I would think her hair grew up in one year or two, because she said they made the movie in 2013, so it can be. I loved her hairstyle, with her bangs, she was so cute

ELENA DI RUVO Yes, I wrote that before reading that Rooney wore a wig, too. I didn't know it was filmed in 2013, though.

ShellyDZ99 Me neither, but I find her wig really cute. Well it's quite predictable, as they need one year, at least, for the post-production😊 What other movies starring Rooney do you like or did you see?

ELENA DI RUVO I liked her in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Tanner Hall and Her (although that was a small role).

ShellyDZ99 I didn't watch Tanner Hall. I was shocked for The girl with the dragon tattoo hahah, even though her performance was flawless. I saw Her as well and I loved her there. Then I saw Side effects, Carol of course, Ain't them body saints, Pan, The secret scripture, A ghost story and Mary Magdalene. A good amount, I must say. Even though I haven't finished the list of her movies lol. I adore her every single make-up and hairstyle in each movie: she always fits them perfectly❤

Rooney should have won the Oscar not Alicia. She also gave an Oscar worthy performance but we know the Academy likes the suffering wife-type of roles and big theatrical hysterical reactions. Rooney's performance was not loud at all, it was more delicate, precise and emotionally more detailed.

Not at all. As great as Rooney was Alicia went above and beyond. Magnetic performance. I only watched that movie once shortly after it came out yet her scenes stayed with me to this day. The way she sobbed and wept 'I NEED my husband' was raw and guaranteed her the Oscar. There was no hysterical reactions. It was pain, love and lots of nuance.
