Yeah outdated tactics 4-4-2 just did not work , the team needed more fluid formation like 4-2-3-1, with rooney at St Lampard/ Gerrard, one had to be sacrificed at cam , Joe cole or any winger at lam/lf, beckham/Gerrard could have taken RM/ram/, Hargreaves and Carrick should have been two defensive midfielders . It would have brought some balance in the team but the team was organised so poorly.

It's a friendly. The entire england team was subbed off in this game which was allowed at this time. Funny enough it was Sven's habit of subbing off his entire starting 11 that made FIFA bring in the 6 sub limit for friendly games the very same year this game was played
