When the skin is that hard and dry, the lidocaine doesn't absorb into the skin and numb it. Maybe remove the hard scales first and then reapply the lidocaine.

about the lidocaine when you apply it you would type it applied it to the top layer the top layer there are several many layers underneath all that hard crust that is very tender skin that's why he is crying because you are cutting that tender skin that the lidocaine has not touched so actually it's not true what you're saying then once you apply it it doesn't work anymore that's because it doesn't work anymore because it's only touched the same place it's touched but you have got to for this child sake and every other child sake put a little bit more on it's not what good is it going to do it's going to make the kids feel better it's going to make it easier for you to cut everything off a little more lidocaine is not going to hurt

That beautiful smile. His little cry just broke my heart but he's gonna feel so much better. It's odd you say if the lidocaine doesn't work in the first few minutes, forget about it, it's not gonna work. Crazy thing is I have lidocaine for my port (access to a vein through a device called a port that was surgically attached under the skin to my chest) because it shoots pains through my face & chest when they access it if I don't use it. They Always tell me the longer you let it sit the better, which they usually recommend 30 to 45 mins. I can usually leave it on for 15 mins & be good. I wonder if there's different types? I always wondered why you didn't soak before digging but your explanation makes total sense. But with his scales being so darn hard maybe a short soak would have helped some? Just a thought.

The lidocaine must be on the skin for at a half hour. Also a liberal amount must be used. Not a thin layer and 3 minutes. As a pediatric nurse, i know it needs to be used this way if you want effective numbness before the procedure.

They do have the shots of lidocaine that would be better for the children , they use lidocaine for a lot of medical reasons a lot in dermatological things.

What happens with the jiggers after? Do they need to be killed or does removing them definitely kill both the female and the eggs or do you have to do it? And if you do what about the ones that end up on the grass how are they killed? thanks in advance x
