It's just too bad that all the cures we have tday for congestive heart ailments and high blood pressure didn't exist during FDR's time or maybe he could have seen the end of WWII & beyond.

Thing is though he was also being treated for skin cancer and he’d been in a chair for going on 30 Years by that point most paraplegics or quadriplegics don’t live much longer than that even today.

@@NoName-hg6cc No, I think he was done regardless. He wanted to see the war prosecuted on his terms as well as the post-war peace. The fact that he died on April 12, 1945 and the folks which took over behind the scenes (Patrick Byrnes, the Dulles Brothers, etc) set the world on it's present course, with the small blip of JFK trying to reign things in before 'they' took care of him too.

I look at the Secret Service agents on the running boards, think of JFK in Dallas, and wonder why oh why?

First thing I thought of as well. Secret Service really screwed up that day in Dallas. It's a tragedy!

Yes why not have agents on the car in Dallas. Override the President if he wants the crowd to see him

No one expect a sniper from above. They expected if anything was to happen it would be like Franz Ferdinand or even to FDR himself with the Mayor of Chicago when he was President Elect and that is an assassin rushing the car with a pistol. No one ever expected sniper fire simply because it really wasn’t a thing. The three other Presidents to die by an assassin’s bullet were at point blank range with a pistol.

His impending death just months later in April of 1945 after winning an historic fourth term is etched in his face. The modern medicines and advanced treatments of today might have allowed this great man to have lived to see total victory in WW2, but that was not to be.
