Really liked your video, you did a stellar job! It aided me a bit in my hair colouring at home :) I've been doing it for years now, but still look to videos like yours with great results to get an idea of how mine might turn out. Thanks for sharing your advice :)

Website Support Thank you for commenting, and I'm glad my video could help! I'm a hairstylist, but tend to do my own hair at home and always film when I do. If my videos can help someone in any way, it always makes me happy. :)

Thanks for this detailed explanation. However im not sure what color should I chose to do the blending. My roots are quite long nos since I have been very patient but I cant stand the demarcation line anymore! They are a level 5, maybe 4. But the rest of my hair is a brassy 6. What color should I chose? Im scared because the first time I dyed my hair It got quite light, even without bleaching.

I have about 3.5" regrowth level 6 or 7 with maybe 40% grey and grown out color with a lot of gold in it. I want to cover grey with a permanent 7NA. Could I pull the color through some of the hair, to get a bit more depth and blending, after I do roots?

I did this with 7n, 8n and 7c. It looks ok but made my roots at the back red!

Great video! I'm thinking of doing this. I asked a new stylist for balayage but ended up with more of an ombre, with a pretty clear line of demarcation. She made me too blonde, but I'm trying to deal with the demarcation line first. I was planning to use a demi-permanent dye matching my roots to try to do a smudge. Would that be ok? And then go back and do low lights like you said. I'm a natural dark blonde, so the lifted blonde looks ok, but the contrast is just too much. Is it ok to use foils with demi dye?

missbeckteria How long has it been since getting your hair done? Most stylists have a timeline of when they will do a correction if a client is unhappy. That would be he way I would go first. If you decide to do it at home, I would for sure use a demi color only, in either the level of your natural hair color or a level lighter. Then if the line is still too harsh, go in and do the lowlights. I recommend only doing them halfway, with foil, and leaving the ends the blonde that they are.

Thanks so much for the quick response. I had it done three weeks ago. I went back to her within a week and she put toner in to calm down the blonde a bit and charged me extra. I've decided to try something on my own. And since demi isn't harsh and washes out eventually, I thought it would be a good choice to try at home.

missbeckteria I can’t believe she would charge you extra, if it was a step that should have been done initially. And it doesn’t sound like she fixed out how you wanted to begin with. I’m sorry you had to deal with that. Demi is the way to go. Unless you were covering gray or lifting natural hair color. That is he only time I’d recommend permanent color. If you don’t want it going too dark, I would go down a level from your natural!

How do i select the right color?
@SaraWrightsmw
@SaraWrightsmw 6 жыл бұрын
Kristie Marie Perez The formula will be different for everyone. Depending on your natural level and undertone, and where you’re wanting it will determine the color used. I prefer to choose a color that’s close to my natural level and tone, maybe a half level or 1 level darker. That way, I won’t get too much warmth from it pulling up my natural color. I hope that makes sense! If it doesn’t, feel free to email me and I can help you a bit further.

Can you use permanent colour in the same way, instead of a demi/semi colour? Thanks
@SaraWrightsmw
@SaraWrightsmw 5 жыл бұрын
Kate Gronhaug I only really recommend to use permanent color for gray coverage and very few circumstances. Demi and semi are for depositing only, so great for a process like this. I hope that helps and makes sense!
