Wow! well well well this turned into a really long video but I feel like every bit of it was justified, I couldn’t cut it any more as much as I tried. We are going to look at how to create a Balyage on blonde hair a reversed Balyage, this for me is a lifesaver of a technique in the salon, For many many reasons once you start to use this technique you too will see why it is such a useful technique there is only one secret to this technique.......

Hi James, after doing a full head bleach on my head for the past few years I decided to grow the roots out and do a reversed balyage for a more maintainable look. THANK YOU for this video, the combing technique is so simple and so effective, I am in no way a professional but after endless hours of scrolling through root melts on youtube, Im so happy I found yours!! explained so well and easy to follow- a talent in both hair and teaching!

Hi there! I know the comment is old but I’m dealing with this exact situation as you and was just curious what kind of product you used to transition between your hair and roots. Shades EQ is a liquid so I wasn’t sure if cream based color would work with this technique.

Thank you SO MUCH for this video. It drastically corrected my awful, chunky highlights into a beautifully balayaged hair. I couldn’t get an appointment for 2 another weeks and I wasn’t going back to the place where they messed up my hair in the first place. I felt helpless. After watching countless KZbin videos, I luckily came across your video. Equipped with a sense of courage from “how much worse could it possibly get?” I grabbed two boxed hair dyes and followed your video. I LOVE the result. Your explanation is amazing; so easy to understand and follow. Thank you!

So I am not an expert but I've been doing my own hair for years and I wanted to do this to my own hair since my roots were coming and there was a horrendous demarcation line from when I lightened my hair. I knew I wanted to blend my roots to my light ends and I didnt know how. I bought the Ion ammonia-free dark chestnut and a light mushroom blonde which is basically what I had in my hair from before on my ends and my natural hair color is a very dark brown.. I followed your steps and my hair came out better than I had hoped. Your steps were so easy to me and made total sense. I was able to blend the dark chestnut to the mushroom blonde and leave some of the lightness from before. My hair is curly so my curls pop. Just wanted to say that my hair came out great because of you! Thank you for the great video!

Wow. This was a perfect video. I JUST did my daughters hair this morning and used your technique. The outcome was the best its ever looked. She is 15 years old and I refuse to let her permanently change her hair color, the compromise is I use demi color when she wants to change her root color to blend with her natural light blonde hair. I am not a hairdresser, but I do a lot of hair for friends, color and blends always came naturally to me. Never have I cut, thats someone's job

I WISH there was such thing as an online cosmetology school?! I started going to school somewhere near where I live and had to stop going due to an issue at the school regarding hours (long story!) two months in and I had to stop…Right after I had found day care for my young daughter!! If I was 20 then whatever I just go in 10 years but I’m 40!! Finally was able to go after wanting to for almost my entire adult life and it sucks!! We hadn’t done coloring yet while I was in school but I used to watch your videos all the time for cutting techniques!!!! You were easier to understand and I swear I learned A LOT from YOU not my school😂 If that school ever opens sign me up!! How has NO ONE done that yet?? 😢 Seriously…Thank you!

They way you did and explained everything so well. So I already had highlights but slightly messed up some areas at the root section and tried your technique using a medium brown hair dye (combed 2x since I’m doing it on myself) for my roots and it worked!!! I did not need to use a light toner at all for the bottom part. So we’ll blended in and I love it! I feel like a pro now. 🤗 You saved my hair just when I needed it.

Watching your videos are so inspirational because they're easy to follow and to understand. I've been out of a salon environment for 20 or more years, but I still do family and friends. I now feel I've lost all my confidence doing hair because I'm not doing it everyday and my skills are rusty. I miss doing hair but my mental health got the better of me working so up and close with people. I would much rather have done the education and product side of Hairdressing than working behind a chair every day. Good luck with your future plans you truly deserve success with all your hard work and passion. Shaun, Nottingham, UK

I did this with my niece's hair after I dyed it red. She wanted to go blue and had considerable regrowth... I bleached out the red and with no experience just used the comb and blended out her roots... I was so proud of myself with the results! She had a nice shadow root and people asked her where she got it done so they could get the same result! I wish I could do my own hair, though 😂

Wonderful glad you appreciated the video yes it is very very very difficult to get a Level5 Ashley without bleaching it you would need to use highlift tony and then tone it afterwards to have any chance I’m on the best you’d probably get is a level eight Ash result

@@TheLifeOfHair Thaaaaanks a lot for answering with such kindness. I highlifted it yesterday with a 30vol. and Wella Lightener Brown Blond. I had just one level up, maybe due to my free dosage which I should have not done it this way. I am light brown with blond highlights with some reddishness in it. I should tone it as you have said. But however, I am thinking more and more about bleaching. Nonetheless, my hair is curly just as beautifully as yours and bleaching them breaks my heart, they would look and feel as a broom brush afterwards...

Hello james i am big fan of the way you teach and all your videos are an inspiration . I have been confused with one issue which is (Should the hairs be toned whilr they are towel dried ( slightly wet) or fully dried) Because lots of time if the toning/depositing is done on 100% dry hairs ,it creates a lot of depth in the hairs. Looking forward for your expertise over this issue 🙂

I forgot to mention the video you did the other week regarding the full head bleach and scalp irritation, was great viewing. These scenarios are real salon life! I have an old Redken book from the 80s that suggests putting condensed milk on the scalp before applying bleach application, to stop it burning the scalp. Back in the day, the salon I worked in they'd use powder bleach and 40vol on the scalp to achieve platinum blonde. I shudder now! Low and slow is much better for the hair integrity and the health of the scalp.

Thank you Sean very kind mate, condensed milk K I’ve heard of milk before I’ve never tried any of these things to be honest I don’t encounter enough to generally think about it once in a blue moon and I do at all costs avoid 40 V on the scalp and I’m mixing ratio of anything less than 2 to 1 generally By following those rules I don’t have any problem 😁👍🏻
