NewRetirement is the best. I got the annual Planner Plus subscription well worth it you don't have to link accounts to see real-time results. Empower is free to link accounts & check your daily net worth, spending, income & asset allocation with the BEST feature is the retirement fee analyzer!! But, Empower is in the business to manage portfolios so they will be solicited just decline the help.

James, Thanks for all the information you put out, has helped me feel more comfortable with the thought of retiring. Question, if I live off of my portfolio from age 65 until age 70 at which point I plan to collect SS, will I still be subject to RMD’s on balance of my portfolio at age 73?

RMD: Most financial holding companies (eg, Fidelity) can easily figure your base RMD. You MUST take it before April 1st of the year you turn 73.

Yes - if you have a balance in a Traditional IRA, 401(k) or other tax-deferred account, you will still by subject to RMDs at age 73 (or 75).

We want to die with zero or close we are both 60 y/o retired with one pension for my life the 4% rule is doable. Our RMDs will be large so we want to start distributions ASAP! We have a primary residence with no debt we might rent or look for a vacation home in FL We will self-insure for LTC. My wife will take SS at 62 y/o due to breast cancer. Roth conversions from NewRetirement Planning in the 12-24% tax brackets (Estate Value at Longevity) $75,993 (Lifetime Taxes) $46816 increases. Our limited taxable cash to pay for only three Roth conversions over our life is not worth it for our legacy. Thanks, James your thoughts
