I didn't cut the bottoms of my cuttings a second time and they're looking a little sad after a few weeks. Should I re-cut them?

I’m so sorry I missed this. The answer was yes, probably. If the cut ends heal/scab over they won’t carry the water

Is this in direct sunlight at all or? Which was is this window facing?

Window is facing Southeast, 123 degrees, according to my phone compass, whatever that means :). The window gets good light, but mostly indirect because a large burning bush is in front.

Like your video, do you have to change the water when propagating during the 8 weeks? And is tap water ok?

Unfortunately, the answer is…it depends. Specifically with this experiment, I had a few bottles all at once. Some only really needed top off, others needed it about every other day. Here’s what I saw. First of all, you will know it when you see it. If the container looked and smelled “good enough to drink” I didn’t bother to change it. When it got cloudy, smelly or slimy (that was too late, lol) I changed it. I’ve tried this “method” (hahah, not much to it) a bunch of times across a few different plants. Seems like water changes are driven by leaf decay in the water, or from the occasional cutting that doesn’t make it. The two big issues are brown slimy stuff on leaves, or white cloudy stuff in the water or sloughing off of stems. Healthy plant material generally stayed healthy looking. When I see or smell that stuff I changed the water. Adding all of that up, a wild estimate is that a change or top off every 3-4 days is probably an estimate of how much (actually how little) work it is if you have a few cups and or do it a few times. It’s not a lot of work. I’ve seen online…change every day. That seems like good advice, and I bet people who love and need “clean” can and should do that. I didn’t personally find it that necessary most of the time, and only when stuff was dying in the water. Hope that helps!

Really enjoyed this video, will have to try this method! I have always used leaf and stem cutting. Generally i use water prop for most of my plants, I love seeig the roots grow, never thought about it for sedum.!

Sedum has grown very well for me in water and in rooting medium! Good luck, let me know how you do!
